ATHENS – A Peden Stadium-record crowd of 26,740 Saturday afternoon saw Ohio’s defense dominate West Virginia in a 17-10 victory, the Bobcats’ first against the Big 12 Conference neighbors since 1949.
"It is a great reflection of the coaching staff that we have, the job that they do mentoring and developing our players, and the respect everyone has for the culture here that's been built for a long time," Ohio coach Brian Smith said. "So, I'm really proud of the group and the staff."
West Virginia (1-1) scored a first-quarter touchdown and then managed just three points the rest of the way while being held to 250 yards of offense with eight punts on the day. Ohio (1-1) put up 429 yards and overcame a trio of Parker Navarro second-half... <Read More>

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Ohio could not stop Rutgers on fourth down all night, and the Scarlet Knights’ final conversion put away a 34-31 victory to open the season Thursday night at SHI Stadium.
A turnover on downs would have given the Bobcats nearly two minutes with one timeout left to produce the tying or winning points, but Athan Kaliakmanis connected with DT Sheffield for a 10-yard game on fourth-and-7 from Ohio’s 28-yard line, and Rutgers was able to kneel out the clock. It was the fifth fourth-down conversion in five tries for the Knights.
That allowed the Big Ten opponent to overcome a huge night from Ohio quarterback Parker Navarro, who accounted for four touchdowns and 335 yards of total offense. He went 21-of-31 passing for three... <Read More>

CLEVELAND – All season long, breaks did not go Ohio’s way, and that was the case again Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference basketball tournament at Rocket Arena.
The injury-plagued Bobcats took the lead with four seconds left on a Jackson Paveletzke free throw, but the Rockets tied it and sent the game to overtime on a Sonny Wilson free throw with one second left, and they went on to win 95-90.
“They battled,” Ohio coach Jeff Boals said. “They competed.”
Paveletzke’s jumper gave Ohio (16-16) a 75-73 with 38 seconds left, but Isaiah Adams answered with seven seconds to go with the tying layup. Paveletzke quickly attacked and drew a foul but missed the second foul attempt.
After a Toledo (18-14) rebound and... <Read More>
