Interesting read from Jeff Borzello at ESPN.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/4...

Claims p5 (poor sad UConn) are dumping MTE moving forward in favor of big payday NIL tournaments and/or home and home with other p5s that maximize home game revenues in big arenas.

Flat out says p5s playing mids will be a thing of the past unless mids willing to do 1 off buy games.

Get used to only being able to schedule SWAC teams in the Convo.

Where is Bobcat Love when you need him to tell teams we demand $5M per game?

Amazing it was only a few years ago when Ohio was in a tournament with Baylor, Villanova, Utah and Tulane.

Those days are long gone and very sad.

I have deep concerns the NCAA is going to eventually shut-out the mid-majors from the NCAA Tournament down the road.

Reducing the number of mids and/or their realistic chances? Sure. But I don't see them shutting them out altogether.

Reason being the NCAA tourney is their main money maker. We all know money rules all with these decisions. A big part of the tourney is early round upsets and Cinderella's into the 2nd weekend.

As long as mids win a couple upsets and make for good stories the first weekend, then go away like good little children to let the big boys play the final rounds in prime time TV slots, then all is good with the world.

Oh, really? Interesting.

Honestly, do you think Alabama wants a non conference schedule of ONLY P4 programs? Are you stupid? As a P4, why would you willingly play a gauntlet of non conference opponents before your conference schedule??? Do you think Danny Hurley wants to play 12 tough games before he gets into Big East play? I would absolutely call their bluff - go ahead take us all (G5 and other non P4 conferences in basketball) off the schedule. Let's see how that goes. You then create another layer of "Haves" and "Have Nots" - and someone in the P5 aint gonna be happy. Please, for once, have an ounce of critical thinking ability.

Nobody said they want to take us off their schedule. They said no more MTEs. They want to maximize home/large neutral game revenues.

They'll play one-off buy games at their floor all day. Never expect anything else is the point.
