If you think about it, Grover Center at 6,800 capacity would be much better than the Convo. The Convo was built with the idea it would elevate the program. How has that worked out? 6,800 would be perfect. We would likely get close to a full house most of the time. Sadly, we still wouldn’t sell it out most games.

In my mind if we are ever over 6800, which we are, then the Convo is better. I understand the argument that it wasn't worth the cost to build, sure, that's possible. But I have never understand a Arena being to big being a problem for the crowd. I just don't get it. Are you psychologically distracted by empty seats behind you?

I played in the Convo and loved it. I’ve always wondered about Grover. It was only 8 years old when the Convo was built. We sometimes practiced at Grover and the bleacher seats were still in place back then. It looked plenty big and adequate to me. Of course we have graduations and such at the Convo and likely something would have been built at some point. As a player, a full house at any size is better than empty seats.

The Convo is too big for our basketball needs, but Grover would be too small. 10K is about right for us.

I hate the looks of tarps, but in the past we've shut off some of the outer ring of lights and it did well to hide the unused steep seats. We should go back to that sometimes now that all of our seats are dark green. It would have an even better effect.

Is now the time to invest in a new facility? Shrink the seating in the new facility, smaller footprint, maybe has room for practice facilities with the smaller arena. Package this with a bond issue to expand Peden and we should be a prime candidate for the ACC.

No one is even around here making grandeur wishes. You've resorted to sarcastically mocking imaginary people now.

Maybe the answer is less shrink the arena to suit the current attendance and more grow the attendance to fit the arena.

Shocking concept I know.

For years that was the theme of many posters, sorry it’s over your head.
