Eleven years later, this still gives me chills. I’ve never attended a game where your emotions went so many different directions. From early in the game thinking we were going to get killed to the amazing comeback and watching Roy Williams dumbfounded on the bench was incredible.

One free throw.

One made free throw from the Elite 8 and a date with Kansas.

One DJ Cooper half-court shot off the rim away from the Elite 8.

It still hurts.

But damn it was fun. A memory for a lifetime.

When people say Ohio CAN'T, I say we CAN. And if you need proof that it's possible, direct them to this video. And if if the DJ-Walt chest bump at the 2:13 mark doesn't give you chills, you need to turn in your Bobcat basketball fan card.

Enjoy the tournament.

The year Butler lost to Duke in the national championship, Butler's men's basketball budget was nearly identical to Ohio's. It can be done.

Had this thought in the shower this morning, but I was wish the marketing team at the AD could/would incorporate past NCAA Tournament highlights into the intro hype video at the Convo. I remember Xavier doing this years ago. Put DJ's alley-oop to DeVaughn against G-Town on blast. I bet most of the kids on campus have never seen that play and that's a shame.

Excuse me? Are we slandering One Shining Moment? A song so good they released a 2020 version when there wasn't even a 2020 tournament?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiImkaOSoxo

(okay, it's a guy in his apartment)

Eff it. Bring back the version with Golden Street Prelude and cutting down the nets while the production crew gets closing credits.

Correct, we would have been on a roll . . . upset can and do happen, all the time. Just ask UVA.

Thanks for sharing FearLeon.. Those were great moments.. Winning against Roy Williams there must have been amazing. I will never forget the Fears missed lay up put in to beat Buffalo to make it to the Tourney!

For some reason this is still my favorite shining moment . . . though 2012 comes close . . .

Maybe. . . but what if Ohio had won the MAC tourney this year and had a rematch with Florida and Alex Fudge?

It was the perfect MAC Tournament run ... a Big Ten Michigan team that couldn't match Bobcats athleticism ... then a Big East South Florida team that gave up not one but two 5-point plays in a tight game trying to defend the Cats ... then Ohio taking it to Carolina which had not guards (at all really) capable of matching up with Coop and Co.

Great run and the kind all mid-majors dream of having.

Well definitely better to have lost in the sweet 16 to UNC, than to extend the party a couple extra days.

And who cares if that would have happened? For crying out loud we would have been one game away from the Final Four.

At this point I'm convinced bobcat 2000 is an Andy Kaufman-esque parody account run by one of the regulars. Maybe Optimist? Pete?

i was there for the Michi-gone game in Nashville. I honestly never thought i'd see Ohio win a march madness game. afterwards i was buying drinks at Margaritaville and marshmallow cigars at some rooftop bar a block away.

my wife is from STL so we made the trek to the dome and things didnt go well early. i kinda sorta just hoped we made it close before the end of the game. well that, and then some happened.

i really thought DJ halfcourt shot was online and looked very promising live. soooooo close.

makes a fella proud to be a Bobcat!

If that shot had gone in, I suspect it becomes one of the 3 or 4 most famous shots in NCAA basketball history. Laettner against Kentucky, NC State's definitely on purpose "alley oop" to beat Houston, Villanova's buzzer beater vs. UNC in the final.

But a half-court game winner would be pretty rare. Especially for an underdog against a blue blood.

Especially since by then all the Kansas and NC State fans had started rooting for us. It would have exploded.

Absolutely. We would have been the lowest seed in Elite 8 history as well, I believe. Would be a truly ironic moment for decades.

Yep. All statistics on the internet are true so I believe this entirely.

Makes me think 2000 is a parody account for none other than Bobcat Love.
