Looks like Kent will lose to Ball State and Akron lost to Toledo. Right now, Bobcats look like the 5 seed, but there's still a lot of possibility of movement over the next couple of weeks. We are pretty solidly top 5, outside shot at 4, but still have a pipedream of 3. I feel like the team I want on the other side of the bracket from OHIO is Toledo. They seem to have our number.

3 up on NIU because of a two game lead and a tie-breaker. I don't see the Cats losing 3 down the stretch. 2 up on Buffalo and they have to play at Toledo. 5 seed is locked up essentially.

With Ball they are 2 up on Ohio with EMU, Akron, Toledo. They go 1-2 and Bobcats go 2-1 they still finish 1 game ahead. Ohio would have to sweep Miami, BG and Kent for a legit shot at this. Kent lost tonight so I don't know.

Akron not sure on the tie-breaker because the series was split. They do play Kent St and Ball St. One of the more likely outcomes could be they drop to the 4 seed.

At the moment I see the target trying to finish the season out with 20 wins. Enjoying the 6 game winning streak but its improbable that this team could cut down the nets in Cleveland. I'd say its 50/50 to get to semis. Knowing this program they'll probably get to the semis anyways.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Nobody:

John Groce teams: Hey let's get absolutely hammered on a random Tuesday in the MAC.

I feel Akron fans' pain on that one.

And yet with three games remaining still lots of possibilities such as Ball State, Akron, and obviously Kent and Toledo could each earn number 1's with a lotta help from their friends!

We’re basically a lock for 5 seed.

Will have to beat Akron - Toledo - Kent State on back-to-back-back nights.

YUCK.

Maybe going 10 or so deep will turn out not to be such a bad idea after all.

The scenario to get the three is:

1) Win out
2) Akron lose to WMU and/or Kent
3) Ball State lose to EMU and/or Toledo

That would put us in no worse than a three team tie breaker that we would win. Ball State and Akron still have to play each other, so someone is getting a fifth loss.

Realistically, I think we will drop the game at Kent, so I would prefer Akron beat Ball State. That would put Akron in the three spot ahead of Ball State.

Got to take care of business with BG and Miami.

Off the top of my head, was the last time we beat Toledo the MAC tourney game under Saul with Kenny Kaminski and Jaaron Simmons?

No, semifinals in 2021. IMO BVP's best game while he was with us.

Even though I hate the construction of this roster, there is a world where I can see us getting hot.

But...

Toledo just looks miles ahead of everyone.

Since early losses to Ball State and Kent State they've won 12 in a row.

At this stage of the season I'm usually an unbridled optimist. For some reason this year, I'm not. I see us as a lock to host a first round CBI game, or if we are really, really lucky, get an at-large invite to the NIT. I hope I'm wrong and we rattle off three-straight in the MAC tourney go to the Big Dance!

The NIT is more unfriendly to mid majors than the big dance. No way are we getting into that.

It really doesn't matter who we play. Tourney games are always tough, regardless. Survive and Advance. I'm here for it!

At the end of the day, anything can happen in Cleveland. Do you hope you avoid certain matchups? Absolutely. But all it takes, and has been my mantra since the early 2000's......3 Days in Cleveland, Anything Can Happen

Maybe, maybe not. I've heard similar sentiments expressed before many upsets in the past. Mentioning Florida, and mixing sports, I remember when Oxford Tech played Florida in the 1973 Tangerine Bowl, held in UF's own stadium. The whole talking-head sports commentator community said that this was going to be a cakewalk for Florida. One of their running backs even opined to the national media that UF shouldn't be playing this low-level of competition in a bowl game and that they'd run all over the Redskins. Ironically, at halftime UF had negative total rushing yards. The guys from the SW Ohio won 16-7, and out-rushed the Gators by a whopping lot. Just the opposite of what everyone was predicting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973_Tangerine_Bowl

Sure, UF is most likely to beat UT if they play in this year's tourney, but don't bet the mortgage on it.

Our boys are peaking at the right time, period. We are finding different ways to win games during this 6 game win streak.
Because we are peaking at the right time that makes us the most dangerous team to play.
Let's continue winning and due what we did a a few years back with Jason.

I think any one of Kent, Akron, Toledo can win this. Akron has stumbled lately, but Groce in March. Toledo is clicking on all cylinders and has so much firepower. It’s too bad Kent has MAC loses. Currently has an RPI of 51. If it ran the table and lost only in the MAC title game, strong argument for at-large.
