It's too bad we couldn't get them at home a few years ago when we beat them in Columbus.

Actually nevermind, that was pretty fun to beat them in Columbus.

I'm afraid you're right. But it won't nearly be as bad as when they beat us in the Convo by 70! points, 107-37. I squirmed through that one. That game was discussed recently on this board.

Despite the 30 point loss, there were some encouraging signs in tonight's game. Yaya Felder put on a show, scoring over 20 points and playing under better control than she had in the first two games. She and Caitlyn Kroll were the primary ball-handlers against the Buckeye press, and I thought played pretty well against it in stretches. Ohio showed much better movement and some sharp passing in their offense, although they had way too many turnovers.

The Bobcats were able to dress and play 10, as newcomers Aja Austin and Cassidy Lafler both played significant minutes. Jasmine Hale did not dress. Austin is a big who is slow and not in good condition, but she can hit the three as well as rebound. Lafler showed some instincts of a point guard, but looks more like a big. Ohio Athletics has still not listed her height on the roster - maybe they're keeping it a secret.

I'm hoping that by the time MAC play comes around, this team is at least competitive in conference play. Still a long way to go to get there.

Just came back from the game. It was bad. Our team was not only out-womaned, but looked poorly coached. They constantly violated all kinds of basic fundamental basketball rules such as running to the passer when heavily guarded instead of standing and allowing the opposing player to easily step in an intercept the pass. This happened repeatedly. OSU pressed more than any team I've seen in recent years -- men or women. A team that knows how to beat a press, which isn't us, can make them pay for an overly aggressive defense. Our team of last year would have made them pay, but not this collection second-string MAC-level players.

OK, here are a few good things: YaYa Felder is the real deal. She was the leading scorer and was the only consistent player on the court. She also hustled back on defense on every play and was great on both ends of the court. Jaya McClure looked like she has some promise, but is a true freshman. She showed some good ball handling skills and could develop. Aja Austin appears to be a true three point shooter, but she needs to get wide-open shots. Kendall Hale showed some promise also. As for the rest of team, can we usher them all to the transfer portal for next year? The injuries to Guice, Mace and Jasmine Hale certainly hurt our team, but overall this is a very weak team.

It's going to be a long season, I fear. I would predict a finish near the bottom in the MAC. I'm hoping the men's team does better, but I'm not really encouraged at this point on that front either, but I do see more upward potential on the men's team.

Many good points above - however I think passing was awful. 50/50 rebound plays not good, ball protection in general not good. But this also against a great determined and well coached performance by o$u. Their D was relentless, and with a lot of intensity, focus, and hustle. They shot well. Shelden Really impressed me.

Couple other takeaways from tonight.

The Convo ramps did not have the barricade fencing up. WTF? They have them up when the men play any random D3 type team w/small crowd expected but not when a top 10 OSU women's team is here? Why - And who is the idjut making that decision?

Concessions. Only a couple stands at most open. Lines 100 or more long. With a top 10 OSU women's team here. Why - And again who is the idjut making that decision?

33 turnovers. THIRTY THREE. That means if we went 75 seconds without turning the ball over, it was a good run. The rest of the game (shooting, etc) was pretty even.

Dear Lord please let the lack of barricades be the beginning of a permanent policy.

Sounds like a sexist policy. I demand in the name of equality we eliminate the barricades for the men as well.

We're talking O.U.

Much more likely that, in the name of equality they decide to increase the number
of barricades for women's games.

This par for the course facility management doesn't shock me in any way. Get a big home game, draw a larger than normal crowd, make a bad impression on new people coming to The Convocation Center.

Ohio doesn't need new fancy things as much as Ohio needs to make the best possible use of what is already in place.

Sounds like a Title IX violation actually. Are the women not receiving the same benefits of the barricades as the men? I call B.S.

They also allow parking under the Convo during women's games and volleyball games. But not during men's games.
