Except for a few things from Russ and the athletic department....nothing.

Crickets.
Absolute crickets.
Is Arkley still going to cover the team?
Has student media on campus decided not to do anything until January?

Not surprised by lack of coverage and information coming out of preseason camp, but still disappointing.

Been quite a glaring opportunity since Arkley left AM.

It's pretty wild that one of the best J schools in the country doesn't have a line of kids willing to be THE go-to guy for athletics. Especially with such an ability to do it all, basically call your shot. Basketball? Great. Football? Perfect. Volleyball... guess what... we need ya there too.

At this point, I basically just twitter search my topic and there are always a couple Post writers dropping snip-its here or there.

Season previews of volleyball and soccer have to be done by a community volunteer. May have to happen with basketball, too?????

You nailed it...all of it. Especially being one of the best J schools and not having someone wanting to cover this team inside and out.

Don't get how there has just been zero information on this team locally since practice started. Whomever is running the WOUB sports department should have a Bobcats basketball beat reporter from day one covering this team when camp starts.

It seems like this would be a perfect collaboration between our Journalism School and the Sports Admin/Management Center.
There is probably a reason outside of my pea brain that limits this...

Mr. Arkley was quite a gift to us.

Much as I would be willing to volunteer, I'm not sure if I have the time to due to my academics. Plus, don't think I'm qualified enough for it. Surprised the journalism school doesn't run something like this, would be very cool for them to pass it on to new people every time the students graduate.

It has been nearly seven months since The Post last published a men's basketball article. The topic: Mark Sears transfer.

That just sounds to me like The Post straight up decided not to have a basketball beat writer. I'd find it hard to believe there's no J-school student who wants to do the job.

Thanks for the link. Not the greatest pre-season analysis I've ever seen, but at least The Post remembers we have a men's basketball team.

This is firmly in "old man yells at cloud" territory, I get it, but I've watched a couple of Newswatches on YouTube over the last few months, and in my view the journalism school has gone way downhill. I remember what student productions were like when I was there (I went to school with the "bad day for weatherman" guy, so I saw some disasters), and they were nowhere near that bad as a whole. No adult in that newsroom should be allowing the word "Kanawha" to be butchered as badly as it was in the show I watched.
