Just saw a teaser on Ohio MBB Instagram about potentially accepting another postseason tourney bid. As much as I hate settling for a CBI / CIT bid (diet NCAA in my mind) it can potentially give more floor time to our young guys. What do you all think?

The CIT is now called The Basketball Classic.

If we're going to play more than seven or eight guys, I can see getting an extra game or two or three to work on some things with the guys who are coming back next year. But the last five games have shown that a seven- or eight-man rotation just doesn't work for this team. They play tired, and seeing that AGAIN just wouldn't be worthwhile.

Count me out of the CBI or CIT or whatever it's called. And it certainly looks like Ohio is playing in something. Doesn't make sense to me for a coach still harping on how tough it was to play 6 games in 12 days at one point during the season. If they are still tired and whipped, close up shop. If they do play, then it really makes no sense to play the starters. What's the point? If you want to use this to get young guys ready, then you better play them. Jason Carter and his micro-fracture leg has no business playing.

Very good point. Again, I've kind of viewed the NIT/CBI/TBC as loser's tournaments in my mind but it's an opportunity to try some new lineups and get the younger guys some more experience. An "NIT! NIT!" chant will be coming to the Toledo game along with a sign next year.

Play in something extra. Significant development comes in the off season and we are now in the off season. A player playing with no pressure or need to worry about screwing up and costing the team an important game is valuable.

There should be stated goals to work on for each participant. Sears did a better job against Kent avoiding the doubles but I saw several times when a big man rolled and was open going to the hoop but didn't get the pass from Mark. Perhaps he couldn't see through the bodies but perhaps he was thinking of reversing quickly without waiting a split second longer to see the roll man open.

I'd like to see Clayton play some back to the basket and back down his opponent to the hoop and see what his short game needs to be refined. Might also show him that benching an extra 100 or so can do for his game.

I'd have Brown play some point. I'd like to see Broderick move out farther on his threes to mix things up for him.

Two games would be a nice extension and a few more wins could develop some real excitement for the players to realize the possibilities for 2022/23.

I'm thinking increased degree of difficulty is not the answer for #3.

The question is only if JC/BVP/Schmock want to go out on a higher note and win some more games. If so, fine, play them.

Otherwise, the only thing that makes any sense at all is to legit play the entire bench and returning guys to get some run and work on things.

So we're going to make fun of them for sweeping us on their way to the conference title and a better post season tournament?

Yeah, we thought we were going to the NIT at worst about 3 weeks ago and found a way to cough up both an NCAA and an NIT bid. It might have worked this season but doing it next year would be a self-own.

When you look at some of the top seeds projected to be in the NIT, they are not a joke. The "NIT - NIT" chant will ring hollow if you didn't even get invited to it.

Oklahoma played the 7th toughest schedule in the nation. I don't think their wins this seasons vs Florida, Arkansas, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Baylor will be diminished by playing South Carolina or Virginia in the NIT.

Those other tournaments that you have to pay for an invitation? That's for "schools" like "Grand Canyon."

Ohio @ WVU in the first round of the CBI would work for me.

I am not a fan of this tournament, but then again I don't have any say in this decision.

Wik has an apparently incorrect list of teams that have accepted an invitation to this. It doesn't list UTEP who publicly accepted and has a home game. Youngstown State has apparently accepted. Liberty and Arkansas State both reportedly said "thanks but no thanks."

That's too bad. I'd love to smack the sh** out of Liberty.

Cool! Add "Grand Canyon" to that list, the only for-profit "school" in the NCAA.

It would shut their annoying purple-clad mindless student section up.

It boils Hugs's butt that non-"P" schools get to play in The Dance along with the "P"s. I can't see him wanting to be in the NIT, let alone the CBI, vs any school that's not a "P".

Really think we should just close up shop. Two teams in the field with a losing record??? Everyone in this tournament gets a participation trophy. I see no reason to play in this tournament unless you’re giving every single minute to the bench guys who did not play and are returning next season. Imagine if a returning starter blows out a knee like Sears playing in this thing? I see no reason to try and pad the win total with more victories over quad four teams. My guess is that there is a very good chance that Ohio would play Youngstown State in the first round.

Bellarmine.....a most dangerous game.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

LOL. While the website HappeningHoops.com is just a speculation site, I agree if we were to accept this I would recommend we'd play the younger guys. Would hate to see someone like Sears / M Brown get injured over a meaningless NCAA rejects tournament. BUT, count me in for more basketball and maybe a playoff game in the Convo!!!!!!
