Congratulations to Ben for being named to the Academic All-America Second Team. Truly an exceptional young man on and off the court. First basketball player since Jamerson (1990) to be selected, 8th Bobcat overall.

+1 Didn't realize it had been that long.

How this was done, allowing his parents to be the ones to break the great news to him, was exceptionally cool to me.

I agree with this completely. You can tell Boals has won over the Vander Plas family and Ben himself. Says a lot about the man because Saul seemed close to BVP also. Glad Saul found this diamond in the rough, glad he stayed and glad Boals got to take him to the next level. A true exempliary Bobcat.

Because of the Covid extra year...would BVP be eligible for a 6th year since he redshirted one year?

Agree with all of your thought here except one phrase: "Diamond in the rough". BVP has never been a diamond in the rough. In my opinion, from the beginning Ben has shown skills, BBIQ, academic intelligence, and just flat out being a good human being.

That would be what, 7 years on campus for BVP? And that would mean how many degrees then? The over/under would be 5, no?

Where did you see this? I just read the story and saw no mention of it.
