MAC Transfer Round Up

Still a long way to go in this process, but it's hard not to argue that Ohio has come out of this looking pretty damn good compared to the rest of the MAC.

Toledo, Ball State, Akron and Kent State have all lost key players vital to their recent success. A few of those guys were borderline or actual All-MAC type guys. And while incoming transfers like Curtis at BG, Carry at KSU or any of the others could be good, most transfers are a relative unknown unless we've seen them produce at a high level elsewhere.

The Michigan schools and NIU are completely gutted between roster turnover and coaching changes. Those are almost multi-year rebuilds at this point.

Buffalo hasn't necessarily been hit by transfer, but they could presumably lose Graves unless he wants to stick around another year. Since he declared for the draft last year and came back I can't imagine he does it all over again unless there are team goals he wants to accomplish. Same probably goes for Justin Turner at Bowling Green.

Meanwhile, so far, Ohio has lost some bench players and added a guy who used to be a starter to the roster. For me, anything Jason Carter provides is just icing on the proverbial cake that Boals is baking. If nobody else transfers out, our rotation of 8, maybe 9 guys is pretty tight. I'm not sure what other MAC school can make that claim right now.

Trying not to jinx this, but it's pretty hard not to get excited about the possibilities and we're only in April. We'll just have to see how the rest of this wild transfer season shakes out.

I guess I missed this but Graves has already announced he won't be returning for another year and has signed an agent. So add that to the list of talent exodus from the league.
