Every forecast our entitlement projections plummet. Many contributions from the new University leadership. Now they are threatening to punish kids for celebrating the win Saturday night because they were not wearing masks.

Exactly. What's the University supposed to say after a large and blatant violation of state guidelines went viral?

As far as I can tell, this amounts to 'please don't.' And it's likely the last we'll hear of it.

But were I betting man, I bet the people who already have issues with the current administration will find issue with this. In fact, it's entirely possible that our MIA CFO might have orchestrated this entire celebration from her new 9.8 million dollar home on Miami's campus. I'm not going to rule it out until I read 4 letters to the editor from locals in the Athens News.

Also explains why Boals doesn't want his family living in Athens.

I’d imagine high school students who are stuck inside their houses are more excited about seeing Ohio students having fun than they would be in normal years.

I've seen crazier things happen.

They really have no choice, especially since J Bar was cited by the state Investigative Unit for no masks, no social distancing and allowing customers to dance on the tables. Besides, if they didn't they could be accused of discrimination for citing other students for not wearing masks.

My son is determined to drop out of school if he can't get back to campus in the fall. He chose his dorm room for fall today, but won't go back to Ohio if he can't have in-person classes.

Can't say I blame him. If you're going to be a remote student either way, you lose a lot of Ohio's charm.

But thankfully, there should be no reason schools can't open normally in the fall. Just need people to get vaccinated.

Like they had to suspend the band and almost every organization to find nothing.

Even with vaccinations, there might still be a need for masks and some social distancing in the fall because of the variations that keep popping up. And those who don't get vaccinated (maybe as high as a third of the population) can still create problems because people who are vaccinated can still spread the virus. I fully expect that all students will be back on campus next fall and most if not all classes will be in-person, but it probably won't be like it was before this hit. It'll be interesting to see how things are after the spring break that some schools are having. It might be a preview of what the summer will bring.

People can only take so much. There has not been one case of community spread in Ohio's elemenatary and seconday schools. Many schools have been open since the fall five days a week, because of masks and health department protocols. The university doesn't need to hand out sanctions, especially since a lot of those involved probably weren't students. Remember when Notre Dame students stormed the field when they beat Clemson last fall and everyone was prediciting some super spreader event in Northern Indiana--never happened. Our beloved Alma mater has more pressing matters related to budgets, marketing and demographics.

But here's another angle on this...how many of those students out there raising hell really knew anything about our basketball team? Or were they just using it as an excuse to raise hell, damage property, etc.? Asking for a friend.

Just wondering how many of these partiers would consider attending a game next year?

Entirely depends on a few things.

Group 1
a) Is the team nationally recognized by ESPN/CBS (not just sports writers/magazines)
b) Do we have a potential NBA player on our roster
c) Are we playing recognizable P5 teams

Group 2 (more important IMO)
a) Are we serving beer
b) Is the beer cheap
c) Will there be girls

Group 1 yes responses may yield a percentage of partiers. Group 2 yes responses will bring the crowd.
