There are nine players in NCAA history who have scored more than 300 points in NCAA Tournament games. How many can you name?

Bonus. Only one of those nine scored more than 400. Who?

Will reveal the answer in a few days.

Yea - figure lot of UCLA players

Also thinking more post 64 teams, teams/players that played a ton of games (kind of like the "most hits in post season" tend to be more modern day, and can't be one and dones.

Laettner and Hansbrough types

And Patrick Ewing - went to multiple finals. As did Florida - but no super scorer comes to mind.

Also trying to think of players that made you say "he's still playing" - JJ Reddick, Alford.

Just guessing off the top of my head:

Christian Laettner

Bill Walton

Lou Alcindor

Grant Hill

Patrick Ewing

Glen Rice (I believe he still holds the individual tournament record, and that list would be really fun too)

Hakeem Olajuwon

Jimmer Fredette

Adam Morrison

The UCLA guys played in the days when they only had to play four games to get through the finals...so they may not have to total points of people in the more modern era.

I was thinking volume scorers plus 4 year types. 400 is A LOT.

I want to say Lew Alcindor on the 400 but they did not pay that many games and he only got 3 years.

Plus they only had 3 years eligibility but still most of them got 12 NCAA games.

I know Laettner's number one.

Danny Manning is probably on the list somewhere. Glen Rice? Larry Johnson, maybe? Shane Battier? Grant Hill?

Kemba Walker got halfway to 300 in one tournament. He should have easily gotten there if not for UConn missing the tournament his sophomore year.

Laettner is the #1 for sure. Danny Manning has to be on the list. I can't imagine there are many guys prior to the expansion of the tourney, not to mention the 3 ball. I would guess it is very heavy if not exclusively guys in the last 40 years.

Would JJ Redick have played enough games? He was a 4-year guy at Dook, right?

Antawn Jamison wasn't a 4-year guy but he scored a lot of points and should have played in a lot of tourney games...

Trying to think of guys recently who were in college 3+ years.

Juwan Howard, also 3 years, but would have played in a lot of NCAA tourney games.

How about one of the Fab Five, because did they not play a shit-ton of games in March?

The top scorers were all early departures though, so maybe?

I don't think so. Glenn Rice played all 4 years I believe, as well as Jimmy King. The better question, would any stats they have actually count due to them having to vacate their wins?

Some correct names, some incorrect. The answers are....

Christian Laettner (The 400 point scorer)
Elvin Hayes
Danny Manning
Tyler Hansbrough
Oscar Robertson
Glen Rice
Lew Alcindor
Bill Bradley
Corliss Williamson

Of this group, Bill Bradley played the fewest NCAA tournament games and thus has the highest PPG (33.7)
