Some interesting stats from NCAT's game vs Illinois:

They had fewer turnovers (12) than the Illini (15, the same number we had vs ChiSt). But they were hammered in most other stats, the big one being rebounds: they were outrebounded 62-18. Illinois had 42 defensive rebounds and 20 offensive.

NCAT's shooting was so-so: 34% from the field, including 26% from three, and 52% from the line. Illinois shot the lights out: 58% from the floor, including 54% from three. They hit a school record 17 threes.

Illinois hit the century mark with about nine minutes to go in the game, long after the starters were sitting the bench. They played nine guys off the bench -- including, I think, one of their managers -- and six of them scored. They had 39 pts off the bench.

Illinois had 31 assists on 44 made FGs, a 70% rate.

The game was put away in the first half (58-19) and Illinois started clearing the bench after a three-minute stretch early in the second half when they had a 16-0 run.

Despite the blowout, expect NCAT to be quite a bit better than ChiSt. The blowout may put a chip on their shoulder. They started a small team -- three guards between 5-9 and 6-3 and two 6-7 forwards -- and can be quick, especially on defense. And they have a young 6-11 and a seven-footer at center to give them some height off the bench. Our guys will need to use our overall height advantage and to take care of the ball.

Watched most of the first half of the Illinois-NC A&T game. It was 8-5 Illini and then they went on a 24-0 run. Illinois was quicker than the Aggies and twice the size. Not a good combination. A&T looked like they hadn't practiced very much and didn't move well at all without the ball on offense. They had a number of occasions where their defender set up on the wrong side of the guy they were supposed to guarding ending up in easy passes to the post for layups or wide open threes. I'll be somewhat disappointed if we don't win this by a similar margin as we beat Chicago State.

Doesn't appear anyone but me couldn't get the video? What a sh!t show it was trying to get that to work. I listened to Russ which was cool but need video.

Of the 30+ refreshes (and other angels I tried), I just kept watching a commercial for conference and then right to the "we are experiencing technical difficulties" message.

Hopefully today works.

Love to have hoops back! Don't be too hard on Russ. I've seen his Tweets thru the pandemic and he has had to deal with this crazy time like all of us.

Technical difficulties would be an understatement of that debacle yesterday. One would think the almighty Big10 school such as the Illini would have the streaming feature running without a hitch. Maybe today will prove to be better.

Illinois games are seen exclusively on BTN. I assume this precludes Illinois from webcasting the games.

We are a 13.5 favorite. We know very little about all the teams so far but if I had to bet on that I think I would bet on Ohio.

There it is listed on their webcast schedule. Can't imagine why they'd do that knowing they were precluded from showing the game.

Scroll down. All the Illinois games are listed as "audio only" on their webcast schedule. It's confusing.

Anybody watching this can see that we definitely do not have a �lock down� defense. They on the other hand are extending their defense toward half court and forcing turnovers. Overall not impressive at this point.

Good news - Got the video. Bad news - where is the energy? Lazy passes and getting caught on our heels. The foul before the half pretty much explains the 1st half.

Oh well...all that and we are tied. I need to look at foul trouble and see where the 2 teams stand.

12 turnovers in the first half and coming up empty when going to the foul line, I believe, is nothing less than a turnover. And, by my count, there were 2 or 3 of those in the first half. We need BVP to show up.

An effort like this tomorrow and Ohio will get blown out like the other 2 Illini opponents this week. And it could cost Ohio a game today.

I thought they started the game pretty well. Then as they began to substitute they lost their flow and that seemed to bug them the rest of the half.

We were fine after making adjustments to the 1-3-1 zone and when Roderick started knocking down threes.

We were the team with a lot more energy most of the second half.
