Obviously with the virus everything is up in the air, but do we know where our guys might be going for a preseason tourney yet? I was at the Myrtle Beach tourney this past year and they already knew the following year's participants. I haven't heard or seen anything on where we might be headed in November.

There are a lot of early tournaments, but still not enough that every team gets to go to one. Since we haven't heard anything by this point, I'd say we're not going to one.

Which isn't the end of the world. I'd be OK with a good road game or two that are essentially buy games. The only drawback to that is unless I'm mistaken, being in a tournament affords a team the opportunity for an extra non-conference game if they want it, right?

Yes, but Ohio technically is in a tournament every year. It's just that the tournament is more or less a scheduling agreement with a group of teams to play games at campus sites. In 2016-17, for example, Ohio was in the Global Sports Shootout, which included home games against Tennessee Tech, Sam Houston State and Southern and the road game against Georgia Tech. Four games, but it counted as three as a "tournament" that Ohio was the "champion" of, by the way.

For those expecting big things with games against bigger opponents with future schedules… Remember this from Jon Rothstein:

Since the Big Ten, ACC, and now Big East and Pac-12 will go to 20-game league schedules, that's a combined 104 less opportunities for mid-majors to schedule non-conference games.

This doesn't include the AAC/SEC Alliance or the Big East-Big 12 Battle.

The struggle is real.

I'll have a lot of second half 2020 vacation time since two of my first half vacations have been canceled.

I'd love to research a preseason tourney destination, especially one in tropics.

Let's go Bobcats!!!

Furthermore, thanks to the pandemic, I read that some lower level P5 teams will seek out buy games against the true power programs to offset costs. There's going to be a lot fewer of those games available for us this year.
