Does anybody have inside scoop on our highly-recruited freshman? Is he injured, in the doghouse, or just not at the athletic level to get on the court? Honestly, I was higher on Price than any of our recruits and he just seemed like a winner. Yet, for some reason, he can't get on the court.

The game against Campbell was the most telling. Brown, who has been out for the start of the season, got quite a lot of run and what appears to be a long leash (1-10 shooting). Yet Price gets small minutes in games he appears, and with a short bench against Campbell, didn't get on the court.

It is kind of glaring to see he didn't log any minutes against Campbell when our bench was extremely short already. The first thing I could think of was redshirting and they don't want to run the risk of him not getting it by appearing in too many games.

But who knows.

You can't play at all and get a redshirt unless it's a medical redshirt. He can only get a redshirt at this point if he is injured now.

Interestingly, I was looking to see just how much he has played and noticed he's not on the roster on the website. Maybe just an omission. He was listed on the roster in the last game notes. Had to refer to those to find his stats. Played just 5 minutes in 3 games until playing 23 against Rio Grande and then 18 against Tennessee Tech. Followed by 1, 3 and 0 minutes the last three games.

Not on the roster but was dressed and on the bench Sunday for the Campbell game. Hoping I'm wrong, but not having a good feeling.

I hope everything is ok but 4 high schools in two states in four years makes you wonder a bit.

That page has no game logs on it like the others on the roster. He's still listed as a student through the school page.

The great mystery of Marvin Price continues. Not listed on the current Bobcats roster today. Why doesn't somebody in our esteemed local media (professional or student) just ask Boals what's the deal?

Coach....why did Marvin Price not play against Campbell?

Coach...Marvin Price is not listed on Ohio's roster....is he still on the team?

It's not hard.

He is not listed on roster or in stats. If the young man doesn't fit in the long term plans then good luck in future endeavors. Looking like everyone else is having fun and playing well together so hoping no transfers. If Price is gone that leaves Boals TWO schollies to use. Hmmm, we are the Harvard on the Hocking. Any ideas of a recent portal kid who likes HARVARD???

Seth Towns at Harvard has two more years of eligibiity and is a senior. He's been hurt for a couple years but was a stud his first two years. In the Ivy it's four and done so if he wants to keep playing it will have to be somewhere else. Plus he played at Northland.

The game notes for Western Michigan are out. He's not on that roster anymore either. There's a page for each player on the team, and his is gone. There also is a headshot page, where his is gone now also. It seems pretty clear he's no longer on the team.

There is no reference to Marvin in the game notes for Western besides stats from games he played. Looks like he is officially off the roster. Now for someone to reveal why.

And now to read too much into this or even take this seriously but....Sam Towns recently received an offer from us and he is a cousin of Seth. I couldn't think of a better line of "Ohio goes to Towns" on the MAC.

Marvin has decided to leave the team and go home to Maryland. He will enter the transfer portal and get picked up by someone else. Best wishes to him and his family going forward. It will open up a scholarship for us. It should also help spread out the numbers from last year.

Somehow I doubt that Ohio has a shot at the reigning Ivy League POTY who also held offers from Xavier, Michigan and Virginia coming out of high school.

Wish him best, etc. etc.

But this is disappointing.

Would love to hear the real story here, but I suspect all we will get is future endeavors type quotes. Mad about playing time? Academic issues? Homesick? Didn't mesh with coaches? Didn't mesh with teammates?

Like someone else said, 4 schools in 4 years of high school sure throws up a red flag.

I’ve learned over the years don’t get too over the top on recruits.

1. IF they commit will they actually sign the LOI?

2. IF they commit and sign will they show up?

3. IF they commit, sign and show up will they stay?

4. IF they commit, sign, show up and stay can they actually play?

Such is the life of putting your fate in the hands of 18 and 19 year olds.

I wish Mr. Price success in his future endeavors.

2019's Tariq Owens?

I'm curious, why no "bust" comments in this thread? Why no comparisons to the prior staff's recruits that somehow did not cut it, or didn't work out? When is the last time a player transferred before before the conference season started?

(note, I don't know enough about him, or his situation to comment, I'm just intrigued by the free pass given on this one so far in this thread)

I think that with this being Boals' first one we can wait and see. With Saul there were at least 2 per year. That would be the difference.

Can somebody explain to me why the athletic department has not released the news of Price transferring in a press release? A high profile freshman recruit leaves 12 games into his career? Seems to be a big deal...no? Why the secrecy? Why is it so difficult to get information concerning this program when it comes to anything?

No one in Saul’s first year or two dogged him. It’s when it continued to happen. That’s when the criticism came. When it was EDoz and AJ Jesus as top recruits. In 3 years if that crap is happening tee off on Boals. But 3 months in to season 1 on a recruit that was salvaged late? Nope.

Miye Oni from Yale is the reighing Player of the Year. He left after his junior year and is playing for the Jazz. Towns won it in 2018. That recruting was before his knee issues so maybe we would have a chance now.

Did Saul, or any predecessor, ever have someone leave after one semester?

There has to be a little question and concern about a guy of this caliber this leaving after 3-4 months, right?
