I'm amazed people exist that think moving a game to 9:00 to get on ESPN2 is a bad move. It is the actual channel ESPN2, the one in hundreds of millions of TVs.

Basketball only takes 2 hours. The game will end around the same time the MACtion football games end. Those of us who travel 1-2 hours to the games can still make this, easily.

It's Purdue, it's ESPN...in the Convo. Get your butt to the Convo, the sleepy Wednesday morning won't kill you.

Consider also that students produce our ESPN+ broadcasts. So when they are off campus, those of us not at the game cannot see it, like the Detroit game and what will happen against Morehead and Campbell. If starting the game at 9:00 is what needed to happen to get the game broadcasted, so be it.

And if you pay attention, eastern time zone games starting at 9 is not all that uncommon in the ACC, Big 10, etc. So if you can get to the game, step up and go.

I have to get up at 6 am and it takes me two hours to get home from the Convo, but I will be there, actually looking forward to it!

Let's just hope the weather cooperates, there is a storm that looks to come through on the 17th, computer models are all over the place, which they often are at this early stage. Let's hope we aren't dealing with wintry precipitation to keep the attendance figures down. We need a good and lively crowd!

I understand this to be the case. I'm just not sure why there isn't a way to work around this.

If winter break 2019 is anything like winter break 2018 or winter break 2017, other MAC teams will have their home games aired on ESPN3 or ESPN+ even though school's out and students are off campus. Why can't Ohio?

Copy this exact post, send it to the AD's office, and hope they give a decent reply. I totally agree with you.

Or, just show up an hour later to work if you're able to on Wednesday. ;)

This game will be held almost exactly 50 years (December 6, 1969) since the Rick Mount lead Purdue Boilermakers came to the Convo and lost 80-79. Adding to the appeal of that game was the fact that Purdue had played in the national championship game the previous season, losing to UCLA.

The win was also the second of a string of four successive games, and four straight wins, against Big Ten competition (Northwestern, Purdue, Ohio State, Indiana). The game still ranks number one for me in my experiences at the Convo. I will concede, however, that I was at a more impressionable age then. ;)

I know many on here know all about this but perhaps some do not. Did any others on the board attend the game? I seem to remember one or two having mentioned it in the past.

I was there. Didn't miss any games in my six years on campus. Maybe the ones right around Christmas. I lived in the Dayton area and also got to see the OU/Notre Dame game with Austin Carr.

As others have mentioned, the weather forecast for Tuesday is somewhat concerning but since I now live within walking distance of the Convo, it won't impact me directly even if it materializes. But for other fans driving in, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be very bad.

Me and my wife will be making it down to see the game in person. Haven't seen a game in the convo in a couple of years, but I always wanted to have the Bobcats host a Big Ten team when I was attending school, so the least I can do is arrange my work schedule a little bit so we could make it to the game.

Hoping fans come out in force and make the convo electric!

I'm guessing paid attendance of 5,300, with about 4,000 actual butts in seats.

Of all my years following all things Bobcats as religion, I am more than bummed I cannot be there for this one. It's not the time. I just can't get time from work during the week these days. I will be glued to this one!

Update: Boals show tonight was awesome! The real deal.

I was there, and remember it well. I was also at the game the next week in Columbus when we beat #16 Ohio State. Purdue was ranked #13 when we beat them. This was the Golden Age of Bobcat basketball. Perhaps, Jeff will eventually bring us the second Golden Age, but it will take awhile. Too bad this game won't be played in a year or two. But, I'll be there and I'll be rooting for OHIO, as always!

How long does it take to qualify as a 'Golden Age'? I ask because I would consider the run from 2009-2012 where we went to two NCAA tournaments and won four games in the tourney sure felt like it to me. Short-lived, but it felt golden. I'll always imagine what might've been had that first free throw from Offutt gone in against UNC.

In my mind the Groce era is a Golden Age just like the Nee era was.

During the Golden Age previously referred to OHIO was briefly ranked in the top ten in the AP Poll -- 5th to be exact. Somewhere I have a newspaper clipping of that poll. So, I submit that some golden ages are more golden than others! ;-) However, I will recognize the Nee Era and Gross Era as great periods of Bobcat basketball and fun times!

One of my favorite Ohio basketball memories. It's during my student days and Purdue comes calling to Grover Center. Boilers are led by Dave Shellhase who, in his senior season, would be named a consensus All-American after averaging 32.5 ppg. In the NBA draft he was the 10th overall pick. Bobcats prevailed.
