Some thought Ohio non-con schedule wasn't that great back in the summer. Our losses are to Villanova, Baylor, Utah and Purdue. History will probably show years from now that this is probably the best non-con schedule that Ohio has ever played in school history or at least in the last 3 decades.

Yes, last several decades. I refer you to the recent thread that contained information about the 1969-70 team and its schedule. That was the previous time, BTW, that Purdue was in the Convo; went home with a loss that year, though.

Schedule was top heavy and bottom heavy. Results are bearing that out. 4 high majors but probably too many bottom dwellers.

I'd say 94-95 was pretty darn good in fact, I'd say it was much better. @Ohio State, @Virginia (12), @MSG George Washington, @MSG New Mexico State, @ Kentucky (3), @N UC-Irvine, @ Iowa, Wright State, @ Xavier, WVU - those were the first 10 games and only 2 in the Convo and we went 7 and 3.

Good find by Alan, 6 rows behind the Ohio bench. And the coach of that bench knows a little something about that 10-game stretch.

For that New Mexico State game at The Garden, we were in the front row. Great story. One of the members of the OU board of trustees was at the game and his daughter and mine have been friends since their days in the OU Child Development Center in Putnam Hall. She called my daughter when we got back from NY and wanted to know "who do your parents know?" Lindsey asked why and she said, "my dad's pissed. Your family was sitting in the front row and he was in the second row." No big deal and not trying to brag but it was funny listening to a couple of 12 year olds on the phone wjp were trruly engaged in OU basketball.

The highlight of the evening and one of my all time Bobcat highlghts happened after the game. As we were exiting the arena and heading to the office tower with our host, an OU grad and sports ad grad, the 110 broke into an inpromtu pep rally outside The Garden. Imagine that scene on a Friday night at the corner of 31st and 7th at midnight. I'll never forget it.

If I am recalling correctly, the non-conf schedule for the '63-'64 team that made the Elite 8 included games with Louisville (2 - home and home), Wisconsin, St.John's, Army and Loyola. Split with Louisville, beat Wisconsin, lost to Army and not sure about outcomes of the St. John's and Loyola games. Ironically, Ohio played Louisville a third time that season - in the NCAA and Ohio prevailed 71-69 in OT. How is my memory?

Without checking the actual record, I'd say your memory is pretty good. It matches my memory. The series with Loyola is particularly memorable to me, as they were an elite team in that era and we played them home and away on a regular basis. Their coach George Ireland and Jim Snyder were close personal friends. They had a lot of respect for each other.

Reminds me of a similar impromptu pep rally outside Commonwealth Stadium after Knorr's "Miracle Victory" over the Wildcats. The 110 made it a very festive post-game atmosphere.

Wasn’t that the game Scott Mayle scored the long TD on the slant route? Wow, was it ever fun to see him pull away from those SEC defenders.

Utah is an awfully young bunch but there seems to be a lot of talent there. We saw them in person in MB this year when they shot like the team in the movie Pleasantville.
