The necessity of this board was brought to my full attention while on a recent business trip. It was hard to get any insight on what was going on with the coaching search back in Ohio. True, I could pull up internet stories, but I couldn't get any local feel without referencing this board. Schools in non-Power conferences don't get the type of media coverage that power conferences do. Without boards like this, it makes it harder for fans to gain valuable insights.

Though we may fuss and fight on occasion, this is the place I could turn for some insight and analysis. Thanks to all who run this board and those who share their thoughtful perspectives.

+1. I just find it tiring to have to weed through all the whining, complaining, incessant hashtaging, etc. to get to the insights and analysis.

Yup. I talk absolutely zero Ohio Bobcat sports with anyone in my real life. Zero. And if I do, it's five seconds, "Huh, we hired Jeff Boals" and my wife asks "Who the hell is Jeff Boals?" and I respond "Some guy who played basketball in 1995" and she goes "Cool" with the same interest she shows in what type of dryer sheets we buy and we go on with our life.

Take the drama away here and we're talking about a low-level Division I program no one outside of about 2,000 people in the world care about that has a budget akin to what Ohio State spends on golf cart rentals for Ohio Stadium each year.

So actually cherish the drama and the whining and complaining. The alternative is complete apathy. It's why this place was best when a handful of people turned their fandom in this small program into being WWE wrestler type characters. You had heels like Love and Monroe and the straight-laced guys who would yell at them for being heels. There was a great dynamic.

The address of Bobcatattack is the corner of unrealistic expectations and curmudgeonly displeasure.

What? Why is the alternative "complete apathy?" We had years and years of BA that were far from "complete apathy" but much much less full of whining and complaining. People just can't take losing and it brings out the worst in them, "complete apathy" isn't the alternative.

Complete apathy? That's the volleyball board now that the team is not very good...

Funny you mentioned that because I just went over there and saw that the last post was in December.

Eh, welcome to every message board ever created. This one is still insanely tame compared to most.

That's pretty much the address of every sports message board.

Agree. High school boards are generally far worse. We're pretty lucky all things considered.

BA was a place I came to to enjoy actual discussions. Much of today’s BA is the kind of dialogue I just walk away from in real life. Part of my recent apathy for Ohio basketball has been the style /results of BB and the coinciding, perhaps coincidental demise of the game day experience. In addition, the tone of BA has moved from one of respectful discussion and comraderie to bitter retorts and “me vs you”. The Convo and BA forum are not fun places to be for me. I have joined the fray at times and realize I have struck out in response on occasion. That makes me part of the problem and that’s not good.

We need Bobcat Attack, because it proves that Bobcat fans are intelligent, diverse, passionate, and are not just intent with being the number one party school in the Nation year and year out. We also want respect from those who fail to take our little "Harvard on the Hocking" seriously. We are the proud, the few, the Bobcats!!!

I am on board with this. I still love being in the Convo as the folks I see and talk to are finestkind. Spending time on other boards while visiting here every few weeks is time better spent. Nice to see the change has been postive for most but still anticipate that the general demeanor and tone of the board has changed. I'll be in Indiana enjoying hoops and watching the program Coach Rhodes sold us on right itself. Still wear my gear and represent Ohio with pride as I will at the IHSAA State Finals this weekend at Banker's Life. Coaches stopping up at our suite always ask about the program. Lots to talk about this year. Not sure who we will see in Finals this year that will end up at Miami but the last few we have watched kids that Owens is on...

I think winning masks a lot of disagreements, and there hasn't been a lot of winning in men's basketball lately. Saul's innate goodness, charm and decency won him a lot of fans. To me, the basic divide in the last couple of years is simply between the Arkley contingent who think Saul got a raw deal and those of us who believe he got a fair shake and underperformed. I think most of us can disagree without enmity, and we're a lot more civil than almost any other boards.
