I was hoping so, but they thoroughly outclassed them in half two, as they should have.

The amateur writer in me wants them to win it all, especially after today's scare. What a great story that would make, from last year's debacle to champion this year.

But the devil in me really wanted to see more chaos. CHAOS galore I say!

Bennett had to resign in the press conference if they had lost, didn’t he?

Basketball has always been a secondary sport for me, but I follow UVA basketball living in Richmond as my wife earned her undergraduate and law degrees from UVA.

With my more limited knowledge of basketball compared to football I can’t really rate coaches based on schemes, but in terms of class and integrity, Tony Bennett takes a back seat to no one.

A few years ago my friends grandson was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and was given a 10 percent or less chance of survival. It was in his thigh and lungs. He had attended a Tony Bennett camp the year before. When Coach Bennett was informed, he drove to the Massey Cancer Center in Richmond to visit with Will, not once, but twice.

Will then went to Texas for additional treatment. As he began to win the fight, Tony and his wife hosted Will a couple of times at their

home hanging out at their pool and enjoying home cooked meals.

The players adopted Will as part of their basketball family and he sat on the bench with the team for several games.

Will has been cancer free for three years and is now playing lacrosse.

Like many, I enjoy rooting for upsets, but Tony Bennett is a class act and runs a clean program.

Background on Malcolm Brogdon:

Brogdon earned his bachelor's degree in history and his master's degree in public policy from the Frank Batten School of Public Policy and Leadership. In addition, Brogdon was a Senior CLASS Award and Allstate NABC Good Works Team honoree, and John R. Wooden Citizenship Cup finalist for his excellence in the classroom and community.
