this team is in sad shape. the proof of that is they just lost two games in a row on their own court to teams they should,ve easily beat. instead they shot pathetically bad on a loss to lowly youngstown state. then they blew a 7 point lead with just over 2minutes to play against marshall. apparently an old problem resurfaced. that being a complete in ability to defend against the 3 point shot and on the perimeter. they allowed marshall to blast three 3 point shots and win a game that we should have easily won. looks like a long season that ends with at most 13 or 14 wins and a 1st or 2nd round bounce from the mac tourney. we could well see this team start to resemble the 97-98 team. time to recruit some stronger big men and to quit using the excuse that no one will play you for not scheduling tougher non conference games

We officially have our first Wilderness Campaign reference. So there's that.

This may be a word jumble in need of punctuation and capital letters, but the points are salient. The MAC is awful this year and ripe for the taking. This team doesn't even give me much hope that it can compete for a title in our sad conference. The only consistency they've shown this year is bad shooting -- from deep, from two and from the line.

Losses to Cleveland State, Youngstown State, AND Marshall equate to a Trifecta of Futility.

We need to raise the floor when it comes to recruiting.

Boals has some hits on the recruiting trail, but seems to have far too many swings and misses. Transfer portal guys need to be contributors on day one, and we just can't have scholarship slots and NIL money going to guys projects like Wiz and Cornish. No excuse for that.

Cornish is going to end up the 11th man on this team when Brown comes back. No idea if he got NIL money to transfer here, but if he did and we missed on the bigs we need that's a bad look.

Bottom line, in my 25 years of Bobcat fandom...in all those seasons, if you had told me we would lose to all of Cleveland St, Youngstown St and Marshall in one season...I would be pretty disgusted and disappointed.

On the flipside, we have played a lot of somewhat similar opponents and been in every game. So there is hope if we kick it up a gear we can compete for the MAC title. Just a little bit of achievement over what we've had could have us 9-0.

Improvement needs to come and I believe it will. TO what extent, we shall see.

The glass is not half full, it's half empty.

If any MAC team, much less Ohio, thinks it will win the MAC over Akron, you're drinking Jim Jones kool-aid. I don't believe the MAC has ever had a champion go undefeated in league play, but this Akron team is the one to bet on.

Not because they are so great - their guards are average at best - but no other MAC team can match up with their overall lineup. Shy of the officials nit-picking Freeman enough that he spends extended minutes on the bench no other MAC player can match his production.

With Ali back in the fold the Zips now have a primary/secondary scorer that no other MAC team has as well. Game over.

Based on history, Bobcats, over the long haul, should be able to scramble and grind out enough wins for a Top 4 MAC finish ... But who wants to bet on that?

And as noted by several posters, this is not a very strong year overall for MAC basketball. Ball State is the best team in the league right now based on record. Who's buying that.

NIU, Toledo, Kent show signs, but absolutely no consistency.

Sad to say, even on a bad night (and there will be a couple) Akron will be extremely hard to beat, this season.

So 'Cats should just focus on being the best they can be by March, then hope for the best from there.

These arguments sound just like with the last coach, but without the portal and NIL problems we have now.

Finally a non-doomsday take. Can only imagine the reaction after the Robert Morris and BG losses back-to-back in 11/12. The Marshall loss is bad, but it might be the swift kick this team needed to get it together. YSU and GW aren’t bad losses; Cleveland State is looking more like an annoying loss with how it faired against EMU and Kent.

Still way too early and too much potential. Miles is back this week, that’ll change the dynamic of this team and should help.

If AJB becomes AJB again, we’ll be just fine. I’ll add that a lot of us weren’t too confident in Hadaway heading into this season, now we’re calling for him to start. So, let’s give Ike more than 9 games to get acclimated. Not every recruit and/or transfer is going to boom right away. Hadaway and even Sheldon are perfect examples of that.

I’d still really like to see us utilize JUCO route; even if Miguel was a whiff. Here’s a few examples of success stories this season (granted a few of these guys had stops in the portal in between current school):

Tyon Foster mentioned in that link also played at Kansas and DePaul. How he has any years of eligibility left, I have no idea. Not that so-called "Grand Canyon" (the only for-profit "school" in the NCAA) would care since it's a semi-pro outfit funded by the former Phoenix Suns guy and holds the distinction of being in a last place tie for the worst academics in the nation per U.S. News & World Report.

More than 1 person. Unless, that is, only 100 applied.

I'm not sure it's a good thing that a BA poster is also a teacher. Clearly if you're posting on here you've got some issues you need to work through. ;)

No issues. Teachers, believe it or not, have breaks in the day where they're not teaching. Planning time, lunch, before and after students are in the classroom. To be clear, I'm on lunch break as I type this. I would, however, like to thank you for your concern.

This is a lie. Teachers don't have breaks. They may have times when they don't have students, but they don't have breaks.

Depends how you define break. Worked in schools for 38 years in 25 states and yes, teachers do have breaks. As mentioned earlier, a planning period is a break and I knew many who actually left the building to take care of personal matters. Lunch time is another break and in some cases where I worked with a teacher who had planning and lunch back to back, we were able to leave the building to go to a restaurant for lunch.

That said, I worked primarily with high school teachers. Elementary classrooms are a whole different story. If anyone is education is underpaid, it's elementary teachers particularly those at the primary level.

Perhaps in the state you live in they don't have breaks. But to make an uninformed comment, saying "This is a lie", as you did, is totally irresponsible. I've spent 18 years volunteering helping elementary school kids in math. The school also has both Spanish immersion and Chinese immersion programs where the class has multiple teachers. At various times in the day one of the two teachers is NOT involved in instruction and can be doing planning or any other number of related activities.

Further, I've seen instances when all students were doing self-directed computer-based learning where the teacher was not directly involved and had the freedom to do other activities. And people such as me or others may have been the contact person for the students.

A literal teacher said how it is, and you had to come in and tell him how wrong he is about his own day. You obviously knew what he meant, despite there being plenty of work to be done in the time he is referring. It is no different than a million other jobs, all adding value to our society...but for some reason we have to freak out at the slightest point that may paint teachers as anything other than underpaid never-ending hero workers.
