I just read that the old Cornwell Jewelers store is going to be converted into a bar which serves tacos. The initial plan was to include roof top seating but that was scraped. Good idea when there is no allure to roof top seating on a building which is 15 feet tall.

The question I would have is I know there is a finite amount of liquor licenses so does this new bar mean something else has gone out? Also more bars are on the last block of Court St than ever before. That block seems further from the student ghettos but I don't know.

That was a bike shop in 1979-80, am I correct? I believe so, as my parents mistakenly drove the wrong way up Court Street during freshman orientation and my father yelled at my mom in that parking lot. Good times.

That building was originally a Pure Oil gas station, as was the AAA building on E. State Street. I’m not sure when it was bought by the Cornwell family. It might have been a bicycle shop in between, but I don’t remember that clearly.
