Well,according to an article in The Post,part of it is, anyway.

Its an interesting article about the problems with "non load bearing walls" sinking,due to unstable underlying soil.

I presume they had soil borings done before they designed Ping,since they accounted for soil conditions with the load bearing components of the structure.

The issue seems to be with the fact that the underlying soil is clay.
Sorry,Soil Mechanics 101,clay compacts,forever.

If you had to take measures,piles I presume,to support load bearing components of the structure,I would have done the same thing for non load bearing walls too.

So you saved a few bucks then,but are paying for it big time now.

In a similar vein, the mayor of Athens and the city engineer recently stated that it was a learning experience and a real eye-opener when flooding this winter damaged the new half-million dollar bike path extension across the Hocking River.

Guess they never heard of FEMA FIRM Flood Maps.

Half a milion - more like 1.5. Same engineering duo that wants to put bike lanes on East State Street. By the way, the bike spur flooded gain this past week.
