Best way to donate?

I sent the question to Ohio's giving@ohio.edu address but haven't gotten a response in a few days, so I'll ask here.

Anyone know if OU gets more bang from my buck if I donate by check-in-the-mail versus donating by credit card online? I.e. do the credit cards take a cut from donations to non-profits?

Speaking from the standpoint of my business and not the University... Credit cards are slightly preferred because there is less manpower involved to process the transaction and the money is immediately in the receiver's possession.

I was shocked at the cost of processing a check at a business level. Another lesson that nothing is free.
