Chance to see some big time volleyball this weekend at the Convo as OHIO plays two more top 20 teams:

Friday at 7p.m. it's No. 10 Kentucky who beat UNC 3-0 and Lipscomb 3-2, and lost to Long Beach 3-1

Saturday, OHIO will be favorites for the first time this year as they play W. Carolina at 3. (our victory over State Penn should be over by then)
W. Carolina lost to N. Kentucky 3-1; beat St Petes 3-0 and beat NC A&T 3-0

Sunday it's No. 17 Oregon at 11:00. They spent last weekend in Columbus beating Toledo 3-0, Houston 3-0 and OS Who 3-2

Let's see, you posted this 6 days ago and there have been no comments. Me thinks there are concerns in the legions of Bobcat faithful.

As with most issues, I guess it depends on your perspective. Is your bucket half empty, or half full ????

Perhaps the nay-sayers could not find that much to complain about. Or, perhaps many are waiting until this weekend to see what happens when we play teams that should be more like most of those we will face the rest of the season before taking their stand.

I've followed the live scoring throughout, been a bit disappointed with outcomes, but realize we've played an incredibly tough schedule. As I can't go to the games anymore, didn't post since there isn't much I can offer as far as analysis.

I have nothing against scheduling some ranked teams, but this schedule may have been a little too much for the team. I know some people want to play the best, but I have concerns about that a 1-5 start might have on the team and the fans. We'll see how it turns out when the dust settles at the end of the year.

OTOH it is pretty good for recruiting. Getting on those schedules and playing at that level is exciting to a recruit....because you know...they are certain that they will the the one who puts us over the top competitively

I like the schedule. I think it helps in the long term with growth recruiting and setting goals where the program is headed.

Huh? When has Ohio EVER beaten 7 top 30 teams ... in one season ... in a stretch of a few weeks? Get real. The Cats stand 5-7 and have not lost ONE set in their wins ... with 4 set losses to Illinois, Dayton, Kentucky and Oregon ... and a 5 set loss at North Carolina. NC State (just beat NC) is 10-1, etc. This team will be strong in the MAC and should be ready come NCAA tournament time should they reach the tourney this year. Roles are still in limbo (partly due to the incredibly tough schedule) and new players are meshing with the old guard. The Cats beat NC 25-16 TWICE on NC's home court ... and should have closed in set 5, but did not. Way too many errors to beat a very good NC State team on their home court ... yet each set was competitive to the end. If this team finds an identity, they will be very hard to beat in the MAC. Go Bobcats!

Technically, you are correct. That said, when has OU won consistently with such a difficult pre-conference schedule? To the extent suggested ... I know the Cats have beaten "power conference" teams over the years, but never (to my knowledge) has Ohio played 7 ... yes 7 ... nationally ranked teams over such a short duration of time. Sure, beating one or a couple of those teams would do wonders for an RPI -- but did not happen. Most kids want to play against the best in the nation and the Cats got their chance on a regular basis this year. Now, it will be important to put the lessons learned to the test via another tough MAC schedule. Hopefully, much like the football/basketball teams have shown, future teams/seasons will benefit (and get some W's) and continue to gain confidence and additional national respect. Go Cats!

Now, nearly 2 months later the Cats have finished 14-2 in the MAC and head into the MAC tourney with the no. 1 seed (and a target planted firmly on their backs). They have defeated each team in the tourney except for Central Michigan (5 set road loss), so they should be the favorite. Go Cats!

So many fans are negative (by nature) and expect the worst, but this team rose to the occasion time and time again ... and the brutally tough pre-conference schedule provided some benefit in the end.
