These two appear to be a good follow-on to this year's class.  Theis makes clear he expects Gilleland to have much the same impact as a freshman that Lamberti has had this year...

It is kind of amazing going back and looking at the names that are NOT here anymore over the last 3 years. Any conjecture about the impact these girls will make and the fall  out ......

Not sure I understand your concern, Borna...

As far as the two new signees, I have not talked to the coaching staff about Bull, but supposedly Gilleland is the real deal.

As far as who is NOT here anymore ...are you concerned about graduates?  Attrition?  Recruiting?

The 2012-13 senior class will be Leah and Faith.  Lexie was in that class but red-shirted her freshman year.  The  other two freshmen that year were Raines and Jordan, both walk-ons and no longer on the team.

ahhhyes.....

the walk ons,

I think I saw one of them working up at the Pigskin. Got me to thinking of the faces of those who were missing.

Now that I have sat through my 5th senior night I was a bit maudlin and it hit me that there were girls who did not make it through.

Is there a grid like the one for basketball that lists the volley schollies?

I too was wondering about the same thing when it comes to the players that have come and gone. I feel like someone was reading my mind. I too have been puzzled about the players that are gone, but that is college sports for you. I'm particularly curious about the perennial bench players from year to year that seem to see very few minutes. It seems every year there are more than a couple six foot 3 players sitting-can't they be trained? I mean, aren't the majority of these gals top notch in their respective states? Secondly, one Ohio woman on the team now? WHAA? Any feelings on this? Go easy on me please.

nor really concerned about those leaving the program.  as noted, they leave all the time from even the best programs, and do so for a variety of reasons.  Don't recall any real important players moving on...

not worried about where players come from, either.   when you bring in talents like Lamberti (Gatorade POY in Illinois, a talent-rich state), Karst (Underarmour All American second team)  and Bilger, who cares whether they're from Ohio or not?  I also believe Theis came here with few, if any,  Ohio connections.  Again, much more concerned with the type of kid they are and how they play...

This latest comment presents an interesting question.  We have all been able to see how they play, and their ability to "bounce back" from being under the gun.  However, have any of you been able to get to know any of the current team members as individuals?

In addition to their outstanding GPA numbers, they are a wonderful bunch of young ladies.  Ryan's recent interview included comments about the character of Nicole and Katie.   We've also seen comments from members of the faculty and community concerning the "Little Bobcat" program and it's impact on their youngsters.  The whole team blends together well off the court - doesn't get into trouble after weekend matches - and some are even involved in a team Bible study program in their spare time.

At this point, I think Ryan has done an outstanding job in evaluating  the character of his recruits.  These are all people I would be very proud of to have as my daughter !!

I agree totally grandad. I have become veryattached to this program after having found my son at the volley house most of his freshman year. Great kids, great group of girls. Reminds me of the 90's BSU clubs I took care of as team physician. Those girls are always welcome and stop in the office when they are back in Muncie. Can't say the same about the current crop as I think recruiting locally has seen a mixed bag of girls in and out of Muncie. Much different than the gals Ryan and Geoff brought to Athens.

I have a great deal of respect for the girls Ryan recrutied even when he was at Florida going after our Munciana elites. Taylor Unroe was one of his most recent down there and was a great kid with a great family. Same thing at Ohio. Sellyer transfe was one of those I could not remember her name but I liked her personality and game a lot.  I think the question of those girls who do not play is legit as there has been an amping up of talent. with 2014 recruits being off the chart the question surrounding the PT is always  a legit one. We have one of our Muncie gals up at Pan nState who won a national championship her freshman year, sustained an injury and cant get back on the court. Do you stay at PSU and work hard or do you go to another school and play it out before heading off to Europe as a pro?

Interesting thread, but surely not what I was aiming for as I was thinking about faces I miss after sitting through another Senior Night.

Good point about recruiting student-athletes who will be happy in the small town setting of Athens.  Seems that GotFrank has realized that over the past few years.  And it's paying off.

Also, miami sucks.
