Cats with two come from behind road wins today. Ball State isn't very good but held the lead late in both games. Good start with some solid pitching.

And a 10-0 win today to start 3-0 in the MAC for the first time since 1997.

The Bobcats host Dayton Tuesday and then Central Michigan over the weekend. The Chippewas also are 3-0 in the MAC with a sweep of Miami.

This is huge. Road sweep, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ball State ends up being decent. Dare I say we've found ourselves a nice weekend rotation.

Ohio had a nice 5-2 non-conference win over Dayton but got swept by Central Michigan (now 6-0 in MAC) this weekend. Losses of 6-2 in 12 innings and 10-8 on Saturday and 4-2 today. All three were close games. Bobcats had a good chance in the bottom of the 11th of the first game, dug a hole before rallying to make it close in the 2nd game. Not enough offense today.

Non-league games this week at Youngstown State on Tuesday and at Marshall on Wednesday and then a weekend series at Eastern Michigan (12-19, 4-2 MAC). The Eagles won 2 of 3 in series against non-contenders BG and Miami. Definitely a winnable series for the Bobcats.

Why did we bunt with the bases loaded in the 8th inning on Sunday down 3 runs? May have been one of the stupidest things I've seen in years!

That really stings, we were very unfortunate to get swept despite it being even all weekend. I guess we were fortunate to get the sweep at Ball State, so 3-3 we go and on to the next.

Now dropped their last 6 MAC games, and 1 and 7 over the past 8 games.

Bobcats host Miami this weekend in a series they have to win. The RedHawks are 2-7 in the MAC (but they've won five straight non-league games).

Took 2 of 3 from Fiami to move to 5-7 at the halfway point.

Ohio has some very winnable series coming up: at Western Michigan (6-9 MAC) this weekend, vs. Bowling Green (5-10 MAC) next weekend and at Buffalo (4-8 MAC) after that. They'll definitely want to build their record before closing with Kent State (10-2 MAC).

Ohio went 1-2 at Western Michigan. They lost a walk-off game, 3-2, in the opener Friday and then won a slugfest, 17-13. They trailed by several runs and rallied in a game that started Friday and had to be completed Saturday due to darkness. The whole series was moved up to try to fit into a rainy weekend. The Broncos dominated the final game Saturday, 9-0.

At 6-9 in the MAC, Ohio is tied with Buffalo for 2nd in the MAC East but more importantly tied for 8th overall in the MAC. (The West is vastly superior this year aside from Kent State in the East). Ohio hosts BG (6-12 MAC) this weekend and then plays at Buffalo next weekend before finishing with Kent State (12-3 MAC) at home.

Ohio was a run away from a sweep. Dropped the finale against BG, 5-4, on a passed ball in the 9th inning.

Ohio is tied with Buffalo and Western Michigan at 8-10 for the 6th-8th spots. Toledo is a game back at 7-11. Ohio and Buffalo play this weekend. It will be key the Bobcats win the series because they close with first-place Kent State.

Ohio starts the Buffalo series with a 5-3 win putting the Bobcats a game ahead of the Bulls as they jockey for position in the MAC Tourney.

While looking at the MAC standings, I noticed that Toledo is 7-12 in MAC play with a 12-game losing streak. That's kind of crazy.

Ohio rolled 12-1 today with a nine-run seventh inning and is now 10-10 in the MAC. The Bobcats are in very good shape to make the MAC tournament now, but a sweep of the Bulls tomorrow would give them a little more cushion heading into the final weekend against league-leading Kent State. Only two teams (Kent and CMU) in the league have less than nine losses, so there will be major jockeying for seeding going on.

Ohio completes the sweep of Buffalo with a 3-0 win today and I believe clinched a spot in the MAC tournament. Pitching gave up only four runs in three games. The Bobcats are 3 games up on Toledo and Buffalo tied for 8th. If both win out and Ohio lost out, Ohio could be tied with them, but it would mean Western Michigan lost out and would be behind all of them.

Standings and remaining series:
Kent State 17-4 at Ohio
Central Michigan 15-6 vs. Ball State
Eastern Michigan 12-9 vs. Toledo
Ball State 12-9 at Central Michigan
Ohio 11-10 vs. Kent State
Northern Illinois 9-12 at Miami
Western Michigan 9-12 vs. Buffalo
Toledo 8-13 at Eastern Michigan
Buffalo 8-13 at Western Michigan
Bowling Green 9-15 bye
Miami 7-14 vs. Northern Illinois.

Bobcats start their final regular season series by beating first place Kent St. 7-6. Shortstop Tyler Finkler hits THREE home runs.

Huge win, not only are the Bobcats a clinch for the playoffs but with 1 more win and some help they could be a top 3-4 seed all of a sudden.

3 dingers? damn. don't see that often.

it's been a disappointing season to say the least. I hope these guys are at least getting hot enough to make the tournament interesting.

I really wanted to get to Athens tomorrow for the finale, but my son has a game at the same time.

Ohio ends up winning game 2 of the series 8-5. If my math is correct, they are a 5-seed at worst. Could finish as high as 3.

I believe Eastern Michigan's 4-3 win over Toledo means Ohio will be either 4 or 5. The Eagles are a game ahead of the Bobcats and Ball State. Eastern Michigan swept Ohio and did not play Ball State. Ohio swept Ball State, so right now is in the 4 spot. A 3-way tie would put Eastern Michigan third, Ohio fourth and Ball State fifth.

In the event that Ohio loses tomorrow, Ball State wins and Eastern Michigan loses, Ohio would be fifth, of course, a game back of the other two, and I think Eastern Michigan would be fourth. Since Ball State and Eastern Michigan didn't play this year, I think it goes by results against teams by ranking: Both were swept by #1 Kent, Eastern didn't play #2 Central Michigan, and so then it would come down to the results vs. Ohio.

So in a roundabout way, I'm saying I think Ohio is locked in to playing Ball State in the first-round 4-5 match-up. Kent State will be in the same bracket. I think the 8 spot is still completely undecided.

Despite losing the finale 5-2, Ohio finished 7-2 in its last three MAC series. The #5 Bobcats get #4 Ball State in the first round of the tournament at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Avon.
