Very impressive for a player on a team that finished with twice as many losses as wins in league play to be named player of the year, but the numbers support it. He's third in the league in batting average (.355), tied for first in home runs (15), tied for first in hits (76), tied for third in runs scored (48), second in RBIs (50), first in total bases (140), second in slugging (.654) and ninth in on-base percentage (.440).

This is great. I am glad Rudy had such a great season but it also means he will likely be drafted and may not be back for this senior season, which would totally suck.

It seems he was not drafted. I'm not sure what all goes into something as expansive as the 40 rounds of the MLB Draft, but lesser MAC hitters were selected. Maybe it's a case where he said he wasn't really interested in playing pro ball until after he graduates, especially if he wasn't going to be a very high pick. At any rate, it's good news for Ohio.

Of note, there were 15 players drafted from MAC schools. Kent State had 4. Miami and Central Michigan 3. Western Michigan 2. Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Toledo 1. Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and Ohio 0.

Based on a couple tweets I read from current players, they were just as confused. Its a head-scratcher for sure and is similar to the 2015 draft when Jake Madsen didn't get drafted either. They are pretty similar as far as playing style; both left handed first basemen, pure hitters, similar body types, solid defenders, etc. My best guess is that scouts must have thought they did not have much room to develop or were lacking other tools such as speed and athleticism to play other positions besides first base.

he had a nice season but he is a 5'10" first baseman. That doesn't project and he would probably have to switch positions to excel at the next level.

Foot speed probably plays a role as well.

How many of those drafted were Seniors? The early picks are mostly all Juniors but the later picks are a lot of Seniors because the teams know they can get them for near minimum and keep them from dinging their allotted draft budget. I bet he will be drafted next year if he keeps it up.

Would've been happy for Rudy to get drafted, but selfishly I am amped to see what he can do in a senior season.

Think he has a shot again next year if he hits 20+ bombs. Scouts don't give hitters much respect out of the MAC. This summer circuit might be pretty important for him as well because I'm sure he is on scouts' long list to keep an eye on.
