Transferring out of Missouri, would be a good get. Seems like he wants to be closer to home, thinking Akron/Kent/CSU.

A quick look at his stats shows he's one of the reasons the Tigers got a new coach. Played about 20 mins a game, shot less than 30% from the floor, less than 60% from the line, and averaged equal numbers of turnovers and assists.

My guess is the new coach has told him he didn't have much of a future with the Tigers.

No thanks.

Kind of a tough evaluation of a true freshman in the SEC.

He was pretty good in high school, he could probably provide depth, but he would not be my first choice.

Saul recruited this guy before, but never dropped the offer if I remember correctly. Verbal Commits shows other MAC schools wanted him though (Toledo, BG, Miami, Kent, Akron, Buffalo) and Cleveland State amongst a host of major programs.

I liked him in high school. The problem is Mizzou wasn't all that gooduld and they needed him to do more than what his capabilities were. That said, I think he can be like a Weatherspoon up at Toledo and be a solid contributor for a MAC team. I know our coaches liked him a lot when he came out of high school so we'll see where he ends up.

+1 This could be a strategic transfer, Garfild heights always has great players, Frankie Hughes is very highly thought of and others in the area would love to play with him. It is normal for a freshman like him to struggle in a defensive major conference. He much more highly thought of than the kid that just transferred to Toledo. Mizzou has Michael Porter Jr and his brother coming to town, the writing was on the wall for Hughes, once Porter committed.

If he's intereted in the MAC, its gonna be tough to get him to drive south past Akron and John Groce. (Man, gotta get used to saying that.)

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

A guy that shoots it every time he touches the ball and rarely passes. Didn’t we already have that guy? Nancy Reagan says “Just say no” to Bean, the sequel.

My problem with Garfield Heights guys is they are all athletic players, but not fundamental. Tend to be ballhogs and want to jack from all over the floor. The kid that Toledo is getting this year out of there fits that mold and will probably be out of there within two years. Like I said, solid athletes but rest of game needs work usually.

I can agree, that is how Sonny was in high school. Hughes just needs some coaching. He could definitely give us some minutes. He wouldn't be my first choice, but I would take him.

Re Hughes, sometimes players have a certain style ingrained and they don't respond much to coaching. Allen, you mentioned Alstork earlier, that he would be a good get. I saw him play numerous times this season, both on TV and in person. He had some tremendous games, but also games where he was intent to shoot no matter what, and struggled. He's now looking for his third Div I program. I'm honestly not sure what he would do to the chemistry of whatever program he joins.

You may be right. Sonny had bad shot selection at CSU, when he go to Ohio he became very efficient. As far as Alstork, he has been playing hop along, but he only has one more year and he can no longer hop. Maybe neither one of them should be our first option. I like Alstork because he only has one year left, he has to listen to play. Hughes would be a judgement call for Saul. He would have to determine whether he would be able to get through to him. I agree with your points. I only saw Alstork once and he looked good in that one instance.

He will probably try to go as high as he can go, which is a mistake. You go where you can play and get valuable experience and learn how to lead and expand your game.
