The winning team/losing team chant is bad this year. Last night I think I understood why. Whoever is leading it, MUST get everyone's attention before starting. Last night he just started and nobody even knew he was doing it. Also, I suggest doing it when the other team is shooting free throws or when it's a dead ball and Lou isn't talking.

I also suggest you hold a campus meeting for ozoners or at least have a print out of chants. The foul chant "you you you ahhhhh you SUCKKKK" is way off. Need to get everyone (including the 110) on the same page.

I know after last season, the ozone lost a lot of enthusiasm because we weren't a very good team, but this season is different. We are gonna be in the thick of things when it comes to the MAC title. We need the Ozone to be at full force every game. Hopefully by January, we are stronger than ever.

I wonder how many students, specifically O Zone members, actively read and participate in this message board. I know there used to be several, but of course they graduate. Moaning here may be preaching to the choir.

Well...Yeah, maybe. I would hope the leaders of the Ozone read this though.

Hey guys, I am the last one, and I am the one who did WT/LT. Unfortunately, the Marshall game was my last OU sporting event as a student, as I graduate in a week. I am incredibly dismayed and ashamed at the state of the O Zone as I left it. Four years, and I missed one football game and two basketball games. Tried to lead chants, tried to provide an example of actually giving a damn about the school I attend and love to pieces. From my first day on campus, I started screaming and shouting and supporting OU (even skipping freshman convocation to attend a Women's soccer game against, fittingly, Marshall). From Freshman Rep to Treasurer to President 2x, I've just tried to keep everyone involved and rooting for the 'Cats. I love this school, I love these teams, I really do.

And you know what?

NOBODY ELSE SEEMS TO GIVE A DAMN.

I've never figured it out. I've tried and tried and tried again to increase participation, we've had meetings here and there, I've recruited nearly everyone I know to try it once, and nothing concrete ever materialized.

I'm done. I'm just so sick of this. Everybody wants to wear their scarlet and grey or blue and yellow. I don't know what it's going to take. I don't know why people don't support their damn school.

Best of Luck. From here on out, I'll be on the old folks' side.

Went a little too far west, let's go SJ Earthquakes!

Thanks a million for all your efforts.

Wonder if it would help if Coach Phillips had a couple of meetings with students to rejuvenate things?

It would be great if Saul could meet with the students. I'd suggest maybe a couple of players could attend as well. Since I think there is a need to better unify and coordinate efforts, I thinks I'd ask the captain of the cheerleaders to attend and someone from the 110 as well. The Convo needs to get rocking

I thought the Ozone was a little better last night. It was nice to at least see everyone standing. Might I suggest printing out the base cheers and placing a copy with each newspaper that is put on the bleachers? That way when the other team commits a foul, or when we are on defense, all the students are on the same page as far as chants go. The numbers are there and I assume after the fight last night, we'll continue to have decent student turnouts. If all the students are on the same page, they could be effective again.

The O Zone sounded very good in the first half last night. By very good, I mean better than recently and closer to the norm for past years. Kinda disappeared when the team needed a pick-me-up in the second half.

The sheet you're describing is the Bobcat Bulletin, and, again, used to be the norm for every game. It would list the standard cheers, a little blurb on the state of the opponent, and some dirt on their players (Criminal records, stupid things they post on social media, etc.).

Is anyone doing the bulletin?

I think we could get some O Zone alumni to volunteer to pitch a hand into that if needed...

That sheet is crucial to making sure everyone is on the same page. Plus the dirt can really help get creativity flowing.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Yes...The bulletin was what I was thinking of. I wasn't a leader in the Ozone, but I loved getting these sheets before the games. Definitely need to start doing that again.

Please give everyone instructions on how to do the O-H-I-O cheer correctly. See other thread in this forum for details. Thanks for listening.

That's been tried for a very long time. Half the students don't even know the words to our own fight song let alone how to do the cheer correctly. I'm not saying it's not worth continuing to try, but it's going to take more than the Ozone leaders pushing it. I'd wager that the vast majority of the student section members don't realize there's official leadership and don't really care.

The opposing team sucks!

Half the student section SAT DOWN during the under 8 minute "Stand up and cheer" timeout! DEAD DEAD DEAD Ozone last night. One time I even noticed them was the "sit down, shut up!" chant at the WMU coach... What's going on? Why don't more students come out to support their team?
