From Team Rankings . com
Ohio Football
Predictions Update
Sep 13, 2026
• After beating Jacksonville St 29-27 yesterday, Ohio is now projected to finish the regular season 7-5 (5-3 MAC).
• We currently rank the Bobcats as the #4 team in the MAC (and #113 team in the country).
• Next game: Sat, Sep 19 at #107 S Alabama. Our power ratings give the Bobcats a 37% chance to win.

The bad news:
in a 4 point loss to a good Tulane team SoBama had 25 1st downs and 478 total yards

Tulane had to score with a minute left to pull it out.

Now this will be an interesting test to see if the Bobcats can play better on the road. That was a theme last year; not playing as well on the road compared to home.

South Alabama has a nice stadium in Mobile, but nothing intimidating.

Yeah, I know, helmet sticker and all but it looked to me like the Staff didn't want to put the outcome in Davis's hands at all during the first two OT's. I expect that he didn't have many reps this week. Hopefully, if he has to start, they'll have reason to show more confidence.

Winning at South Alabama with a freshman QB in his first start, without Brune, and without Walker and Christopher, if this turns out to be the case, os going to be very, very difficult.

Levi Davis actually made an exceptional throw in the second overtime that narrowly missed being a touchdown. That gave me hope for him throwing the ball moving forward.

It could spark the team to also over perform down that. If the data point is Tulane I do not believe they are as strong as past seasons. South Alabama is probably going to be favored by a TD against Ohio. With the injuries will the staff sit more players in this one considering its not a conference game and with the Jax St victory that seals the non-conference slate at 2-2? One injured QB could be cleared but they could make this a Davis trial by fire game.

What got me about that is that we called the first two overtime periods so ultra conservative like that, then in the third overtime, immediately ask him to throw to the far corner of the end zone when wee needed to gain just three yards.

Thankfully in OT4 we wised up and just asked Davis to do what he's best at: run the ball! And imagine that, it worked.

According to Hauser, the throw to the corner was an audible by Davis.

This might not be very relevant or maybe it is.

We were not alone at winning by 2 without impressive stats.

Marshall did as well. But Jax St. is better than the MTSU team they beat.

When MTSU's coach gets fired at the end of the season, we should poach some of their roster. They have some talent, just not apparently a ton of it.

I was also wondering about Carson-Newman. Is their coach on the hot seat? Any promising players Ohio should keep tabs on in case they enter the portal?

My immediate thought watching the game when Levi came in was "Man, I bet this kid has hardly gotten any reps in the last 2 weeks." Obviously if he's QB1 all week this week, he'll get more reps. I'd expect the offense to be opened up a bit more with him this week. I was also really encouraged by that corner pylon throw. Ball placement was dang near perfect on it.

CN is 3-0 so the coach is probably safe.

They are not much of a feeder to D-1 football teams.
