Anyone notice during the OSU - Penn State game that the play-by-play guy repeatedly called the Buckeyes "THE world-famous Ohio State Buckeyes," including in the broadcast open? Is this another inane branding ploy cooked up in Columbus?

This isn't new.

Last year, the announcers at the OSU - Michigan game and at the B1G championship
referred to OSU as "the world famous Ohio State Buckeyes".

There's actually a thread about it.

That's just the carnival barker Gus Johnson. He's awful. I usually just mute him.

I agree on Gus Johnson. The way he gives every word nearly the same emphasis with a slight pause between each word is annoying. I never thought of calling it "carnival barking," but I think that's a good way to describe his style.

Here's a little emphasis on 'the'

It's toward the end of the spot.

So, you're afraid that O$U will sue because we emphasized the word "The"? ;-)

No, not hardly afraid. I was ROTFL so hard when I first watched it that I just wanted to share. The evil empire needs to take a hammer to a beach.
