Given the success Troy Calhoun has experienced at Air Force, it got me thinking of when Brian Knorr took over after Jim Grobe left for Wake Forest. Was Calhoun ever interviewed by Ohio or taken into serious consideration since he was the offensive coordinator? I wasn't at Ohio then so hoping someone here has the inside scoop on how that all went down. Even in an alternate history where he is hired, he probably still ends up at Air Force (his alma mater) down the road.

Perhaps, because he wasn't asked. It's easy to say you aren't interested when nobody makes you an offer. My understanding, confirmed by numerous impeccable sources, is that Knorr was Grobe's handpicked and recommended replacement, who was picked after the AD did an exhaustive 24-hour-nationwide search.

As I said, wasn’t interested. I’m sure though you have inside knowledge that I didn’t back then or still don’t 🤦🏽‍♂️

Grobe and many of his assistants couldn't stand Thomas (don't call me Tom) Boeh. For good reason.

Refresh my memory. Has the athletic department ever done anything to honor Jim Grobe? Seems like it would certainly be a nice gesture for a large contributor to the football program.

This a rare case, where maybe I do. Normally, your inside sources are sacrosanct here; however, there may be rare exceptions to that BA rule.

I'm sure he'd be telling the truth that he wasn't interested. Might have been a different story if he was actually offered the job.

You are stuck on semantics here. Job was his if he wanted it. He didn’t want it.
