Watching the Cowboys-Broncos game tonight to catch up on Tarell Basham. The Broncos started a backup QB named Josh Johnson who's 36 years old and in his 14th season in the NFL. He played college ball at the University of San Diego (1AA/FCS), was drafted by Tampa Bay as the 160th pick of the 2009 draft and played three seasons at Tampa, mostly as a backup. Since then, he's been with the 49ers, the Sacramento Lions of the United Football League, the Browns, the Bengals, the 49ers again, the Bengals again, the Jets, the Colts, the Bills, the Ravens, the Giants, the Texans, the Raiders, the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football, Washington, the Lions, the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL, the 49ers for a third time, the Jets again, the Ravens again, and now the Broncos. That's 19 stints at 14 different NFL teams, plus stints at teams in three other leagues.

But his perseverance maybe has paid off. He apparently is the front-runner for the Broncos' #2 QB. He had a decent game tonight: 16 of 23 for 172 yds, 2 TDs and no INTs. He also had one carry for three yds, which is second-best on the team tonight.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

I’m good buddies with Bruce Gradkowski. Outside of a few seasons where he basically lucked into starting roles because of injuries he was more than glad to ride it out as a backup for a decade. Just show up and wait for your direct deposit to hit. Talk about the life.
