They want more games against G5 teams. I was incredibly CORRECT. They NEED these games. So badly.

"We have said that we would need to see how strength of schedule would be evaluated by the CFP. With this outcome, we will need to asses how many P4 non-conference games make sense in the future to put us in the best position to participate in the CFP. That is not good for college football." == Greg Byrne

They should call Julie Cromer. She'll roll over and take a few pennies to play them in Tuscaloosa. Julie - the number is $5 million minimum - tell your other G5 AD friends, and quit waiting for Arkansas to call you with a job. You work for OHIO.

If these idiot Athletic Directors and Presidents don't start demanding real money for these games - we have a huge problem. It's clear as day in Black and White today.

HOLD JULIE CROMER and LORI GONZALEZ ACCOUNTABLE.

You just lost a Coach because the budget is completely mis-managed on the revenue side of the line. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

Actually, reading the context of the full quote, it sounds as though he wants more P4 non conference games. Alabama's three losses came at the hands of SEC teams and he's saying their strength of schedule wasn't good enough.

No. He's saying Strength of Schedule doesn't matter. He would have pulled Wisconsin and South Florida off this year, and Florida State, Wisconsin, ND, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and other P4's in future years.

They want to play us, they need to pay.

You are right. I called this when the Super Conferences started popping up. Law of unintended consequences. Everyone ditched Arizona State and they ended up with a bye. Think Michigan State is ever going to be in consideration for a playoff spot unless they load up with a bunch of cream puffs and hope the schedule somehow aligns in their favor (the Indiana model)?

Do you have to make a new thread every time you have this aggressively incorrect train of thought?

You got halfway there. Unless we take definitive action to stay relevent -> It's only a matter of time before Arizona State and Michigan State become the cream puffs. They need us. Get paid, Cromer. Critical thinking.

Yes. They are going to bankrupt themselves anyway. Why not have us be a part of that.

You are an idiot. The thread below this is "We gonna take your coach" by F'ing UNC Charlotte....and they did it. How far do we have to fall???

I'll be alarmist (and correct) until someone decides to improve our situation. God knows it's not idiots like you.

Can we just pin a thread called “Bobcat Love’s Incoherent Rambling” to the top and just let this goofball rant nonsensically about the same topic amongst himself rather than cluttering up the board with his 8th post in 3 days?

You are so far behind it's baffling. I've never seen somebody dumber consistently think they're the smartest guy in the room.

Alabama's AD is making sure the NCAA knows who is in charge. And it's not the NCAA. It's the SEC & Big 10, and the schools that bring in all the revenue. They know it, and so does the NCAA.

The SEC & Big 10 are negotiating a scheduling alliance, which will involve more games against each other, and allow them to re-open TV rights deal negotiations with two networks at once. Bama's AD is making sure the NCAA knows who is in charge.

TV Money is all that matters to anybody. The size of the TV revenue pie gets bigger with more marquee games and the SEC and Big 10's alliance gives them the leverage to couple that with guaranteed playoff spots. That is going to happen.

In other words, those G5 games are quite literally worth less to them than ever before. Quite literally.

And, of course, even if we got $5m for a game against OSU it does absolutely nothing to address any of the real issues facing Ohio Athletics. Taking handouts to be OSU's Washington Generals is not a sustainable strategy for mid-major sports. If you're going to tell all of us how smart you are, at least propose something that addresses any of the real challenges that the program faces.

You mean a successful alliance like this:

Unbelievable. You are a mess.

You're so far behind. Just truly, truly blind right now.

That the Big 10, Pac 12, and ACC couldn't band together and stop what's coming -- and the Big 10 has since just emulated the SEC's playbook -- is exactly my point. College sports are never going to be the same. The landscape's entirely different, the NCAA is powerless, and TV money runs everything.

The P4 doesn't need the NCAA anymore. We're less than 10 years away from the P4 breaking away from the NCAA and taking every cent. What's the NCAA add now that college sports are pro sports, exactly?

Why would Alabama and the like choose to make less money on TV deals in order to accommodate the NCAA's completely opaque, ever-changing playoff selection criteria when they can just fire the NCAA?

So, so dumb.

You realize the NCAA has no involvement in the CFP? You just quoted the NCAA about 9 times in your last rant. The NCAA has already been fired from the CFP. It's hard to have a discussion when you are so uninformed. Alliances - LOL. Moron.

This is exactly what he said, basically “I’d rather play a cupcake G5 than a .500 Wisconsin, because at least then my guys won’t get as beat up and then we lose to Vandy”.

BLSS, the NCAA does not run the CFP nor the selection committee.

Got it. The underlying point's the same though -- the SEC and Big 10 are the cash cows. More marketable TV games = more money for everybody, and the SEC will much sooner just force the CFP selection committee to change than they will give up revenue to schedule cupcake non-conference games.

Whether it's the NCAA or some committee, the SEC & Big 10 still hold the cards.

I'm not going to engage people that don't know the NCAA has nothing to do with the College Football Playoff. You aren't knowledgable. Leave. You have ZERO credibility - Turkey.

You might have more luck bringing people to your point of view if you weren't so rude to others. We are talking about college athletics, Not geopolitics. You are one of very few that consistently exhibits this lack of decorum on this board.

It’s a private industry, you want to prove your BS, BLSS!!!Throw insults all you want.

CFP is a private contract and if you have all the answers become a conference commissioner or AD, it probably pays more. If not, up your donations.
