Some of you really disgust me. As in physically nauseous. I don't even see this much two faced turncoat griping from OSU fans in Columbus.

You don’t want to know what Ohio State fans would do to their coach if they lost to Duquesne.

Relax, bobcatblitz. I would hazard a guess that everyone on here is rooting for OUr Cats. Just not much to be positive about this season. And, no, a lone win over a hapless Akron team doesn't prove Ohio has turned the corner. It's going to take more wins, against better competition, to convince many on here of that.

Nice win for the "Cats. I'm going to wait until we beat CMU to say that we have turned the corner. I remember several homecoming and home losses to CMU when we had teams that were favored. They've kind of been our nemesis Beat CMU at HC and I'll start believing. Go OHIO!

Ohio vs CMU all-time: 5-26-2. A win would be great, but that might be too much to ask.

The Bobcats got back to what made them successful under Solich in the second half of the Akron game. Nobody is being a turncoat. What makes Bobcats fun to be around is that they are honest and say it like it is, unlike those delusional and grandiose OSU fans who actually think that they can continue to compete with the likes of Alabama. I can see why Albin was a valued assistant for Solich, but the legend himself knew -- by example -- is that the game is about toughness, physicality, and keeping it simple, even to the point of being boring. Albin keeps trying to out think his opponents instead of getting after them like they did today in the second half. What has made me physically sick (if you really want to imply such things) is being subjected to bad football up until the second half of today's game. We have the same grade and level of players that Solich has always brought into this program, so what has changed? Nothing, except Solich left and it seems to me that Albin is trying to make these players do things that they simply can't do. It's sad to me that it has taken four and a half games for Albin to come to this realization. Talking about setting your players up for failure. It seems to me that Albin spent far too much time sitting up in that box as an assistant over the years instead of interacting with young men when it counts. I hope that this is the beginning of something promising for the program going forward, until another legend can be brought in to inspire young men. Albin has a good football mind, but does he have that ability to calmly look at a young man in the eye and either inspire him to rise above expectations or put the living fear into him until he does?

This team played 4 very disappointing games and 3 quarters ugly football of the 5th. Really happy they got the win, for Albin, the players and the program. Let's not kid around... Akron is one of the worst teams in the MAC and among the worst in FBS. For a good portion of that game, Ohio did not look like the better team. Got the win and that's all the matters. Let's hope they can build on it. See you next week at Tailgreat

We won yesterday by being what our staff apparently doesn't want us to be -- a one-dimensional power running team. It was absolutely our last resort, and it worked. As badly as Rourke was playing, Albin and company literally had no other choice. I'm not sure that's cause for celebration, especially against a program as putrid as Akron. I'm relieved we won but really unsettled by the state of our offense.

OhioCatFan stated all that we should consider at this point in the season.
Right on comment.
Thanks

This reminds me of the thought I had after the first three plays in the Syracuse game -- all running plays for nice gains. I thought, stupid me, that Albin had decided that our strength was running and that we were going to be a run-first, throw-second kind of team. I even had flashbacks to Bill Hess style of football, where he almost never threw the ball on the Ohio side of the 50. However, those three plays were an anomaly not our bread and butter. Did it take until the fourth quarter yesterday for our coaching staff to realize that running is the strength of this team? My questions now are: Will we remember that lesson next Saturday? Will we start Rogers? Or, will we continue to try to be a team that we are not? On such questions, IMHO, hang the fate of the Albin Era.

I would start Rogers and see what happens.

If he does ok then leave him in.

Bowling Green has a surprise win over Minnesota and that's a road game. We have Miami and CMU at home/ There are some other games we might have a shot at winning. Given enough weak opponents I think that we will win another game or two. You could argue that this is the best chance of all of the remaining games for another win. Its pretty close.

Whenever we had a two QB system under Solich he always went with the guy who had the hot hand. Yesterday we finally had a guy whose hand was hot enough to stick with him. And with Rogers making the Akron D respect his running abilities, that made Tuggle just that much more effective. I would go with him vs CMU. He's dangerous even in third and long situations because he can easily clip off five or ten yds or even more.

Agree with this. Make them adjust to stop the run, then the option to pass will emerge.

Info on Duquesne
I have known their coach for over 15 years. He was at Westminster Cillege ( D3 ) for a few years
He knows how to avoid the rule book
He hit the transfer portal VERY strong
Thugs love downtown Pittsburgh
DU is in downtown Pgh
Lot of “ alumni jobs “ available there
This means work 30 min - paid for 8 hrs
Former BB coach at Akron is now BB coach got the Dukes
He also knows how to avoid the rule book
Now quit bitching- beat CMU
Think Green, Think Bobcat Green! C
