Since I just made the worst game score pick in history of BA on the Duquesne game I'm making myself ineligible to vote in this poll. But let's see what others think.

Pretty small sample size to work with but it's not very encouraging thus far.

Probably too early to tell, but going back and looking at Knorr's tenure; we played seasons with only 5 home games and were lambs to the Power 5 slaughter. But he did get shut out by FCS Northeastern at home too...soooo.

They may both be failures but they carbon copies. Albin at least on paper deserved the opportunity while Knorr didn't have enough experience. Personalities are quite different between the two coaches. I don't see the point of drawing a direct parallel between the two coaches.

Also since there wasn't really a 2020 season we don't know whether its a clear drop off or a gradual slide. 2019 was only 7-6. This could just be a 4-8 or 5-7 type season the program was due for.

My wife and I were having this conversation and strongly agree that we may go 0-48 under Albin. Seriously never thought I would rather have Knorr back as a coach.

My friends and I had front row seats in the first incarnation of the football O Zone that had a membership of roughly 25 people. Toward the end of that Northeastern game my friend calls out to their QB (who was pretty freaking good IIRC, at least compared to our assortment at the time), "come play for us!" Dude was like, "Nah, I'm good." My friend replies, "we play Florida next week!" He laughs and goes, "good luck!"

The results so far are more negative than I would have thought, even given the horrible showing in our first two games. Only a handful are giving him the benefit of the doubt. As of now we have 25 who have some level of agreement with Albin being Knorr 2.0, 13 who are taking a wait-and-see attitude and only five you disagree Albin's coaching is Knorr-like.

Being the eternal optimism, I'm personally hoping that he turns things around and we beat Louisiana. We need vast improvement, but it is possible for a team to make great strides from game to game. Let's make it happen. Go OHIO!

[Again, I did not vote myself in this poll]

We may get Akron this year, I cannot believe that Alvin was ever on the chopping block here, even when he was the worst play calling. The upward mobility in our football program is amazing, just stick around and you will hit the lottery.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

In some ways, this is worse the Knorr. When Grobe left, he took the entire coaching staff with him. Knorr had to start over with a new staff and the players had to get used to them. Albin inherited an experienced staff that was already in place and knew each other. The players know the coaches and there have not been many system changes.

When Albin was promoted, I was not excited. In past season, his play calling and the amount of time it takes to get a play called in a hurry up offence was frustrating. Given the timing of Frank's departure, Albin may have been the best choice. But, I think I would have given him an interim tag before I gave him a long term contract. I think we are stuck with him no matter what.

Well, Knorr 2.0 agreement totals are continuing to mount up after the Louisiana game. As I promised, I have not voted myself, but if I did, I would now be firmly in the Strongly Agree category.

Let me see if I understand this, OCF. You didn't vote in this poll? Or you did?

No I did not vote in this poll; I thought that I made that clear. I disqualified myself from voting.

No, but you can issue a statement that you erred and explain why! ;-)

OK, I wasn't 100% sure after the first, second or even third mention of it in this thread. Maybe 11,282 posts instead of only 11,281 posts would have been the clincher.

Well, I just believe in practicing that old broadcast journalism adage: Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em; tell 'em, and then telling 'em what you told 'em! Some folks really need that kind of repetition. Not saying you do, but you know some folks . . .  cool wink indecision
