I've not seen a discussion of what anybody believes Albin will do differently from Solich. You have to believe something will change. I'll predict that there is a gradual move away from the pistol since it does not fit as well with KRourke's skills.

I think that one of the failures of last season was trying to force K. Rourke and Rodgers into the same basic offense that Tettleton and N. Rourke ran so well. I'll act a fan armchair QB overstepping his expertise here but I think that they both need a variation that is different from that and different from each other.

Both Rourke and especially Tettlton were good a throwing while moving and both especially Rourke were good at making the right read on a spread read option. N. Rourke needs to be in the pocket on most passing plays and Rodgers needs to be a primary ball carrier. But we need to keep Rourke healthy if we want to not have the first losing season in a long, long time.

Let’s hope it’s a positive change.

I’m thinking Tetttleton’s influence will be a positive one.

I think the change will come next season. Might see some variation and small differences this year but I don't see a new scheme happening.

Bringing back TT on staff would lead me to believe they want him teaching the pistol considering that would be his expertise?

Splitting time between Rourke and Rodgers makes zero sense and has not since day one. They are complete opposites in style and strength and it appears that Albin's solution is to force a round peg and a square peg into a triangle hole. The reports of Rourke working on his running tells me they will keep at the pistol. I like our team talent this year but am very leery of the QB play in that the coaches don't seem inclined to build a system that fits the skillset of Rourke, but rather make the player fit the system. That never - NEVER - works.

I really like this question, especially with the shortened access to the 2nd scrimmage and the recently-restricted media practice access leading up to the first game. If it was all run-of-the-mill stuff in practice, why cant the media see it? No shade to the coaches, who have an obligation to protect info, but it does make you wonder and makes this a great question.

Based on what we know about the team through earlier fall, its hard to see a major scheme change on either side of the ball.

I would like any QBs out there to chime in on this quote because I struggle with this too.

I think it is an absolute must to get the ball to Armani Rogers, he is an elite athlete for any conference. With the loss of Shane Hooks, honestly, Rogers should be a WR, if he can run the routes. And an emergency QB.

Albin has had major success before with players like Tettleton in his final year by focusing on passing instead of running. Mark my words, Kurtis can run but he is going to be best scrambling vs planned runs like options. Kurtis is a very good decision maker and will pass it or run it as the situation demands.

Also, the funtion that options serves, to widen the field, can be accomplished by other methods than having the QB run options, such as jet sweeps.

Kurtis is one heck of a passer and needs all the reps. And Ohio doesnt run an offense like Toledo with 15 bubble screens and checkdowns per game where 70% might not mean much; Kurtis hit 68% of his passes last year consistently throwing intermediate and deep routes.

QB3 CJ Harris is a darn good player in his own right and he should be the back-up qb after this year. With some experience, Harris can help the Bobcats too.

Thoughts?
