They get two years and a $5,000 fine for an unnamed associate AD loaning $100 to $1,000 to seven players during the 2015 season. This was during the Terry Bowden regime, but the ABJ article doesn't say who did it. Bowden's now at ULM, so if it had been him we probably would've heard. They went 8-5 that year, tied us for 2nd in the East and won the Tater Bowl, Akron's first-ever bowl win. That might now be in jeopardy. They have 14 days to identify any games that must be forfeited. The former AAD also gets a two-year show-cause order.

Given the current status of the Akron program, the probation really doesn't mean much.

Bummer for those Kids and coaches etc who had a great year in 2015 to have it jeopardized by a few bad actors.

True, re probation, given the Zips record the past few years. The will probably get 3 wins this year, if that

With the new NIL situation, no big deal. It’s chump change compared to paying coaches millions.
