Good luck trying to get any info regarding fall camp. Each year after Arkley, information gets a little more scarce.
You may get a 30 second video with no narrative of guys running around or going through drills. This has become the football programs weak attempt to inform their fanbase.

It will be tough for sure.

Russ Eisenstein, "Voice of the Bobcats" is a good twitter follow, he gets some information out there, the best he can.

The loss of Arkley was significant for Bobcat football coverage, no question, in terms of quality and quantity.

Dont get me wrong, the young adults at Ohio U newspapers like the Post do a solid job of covering the Bobcats, to their level.

However, Arkley had a deeper understanding, as he should given his age and experience, evaluating MAC player talent and the X's and O's of the Bobcats and their opponents. He also had some good human interest stuff on Ohio players.

I was hoping Arkley's site SUACBobcats.com would have some content this fall but i dont see an update since April 2021. Maybe he will have a chance to get some coverage. 10% Arkley coverage would be better than no Arkley.

Still remember the two a days from preseason soccer camp at O.U.

First day of camp was a timed run over the Golf Course.

Salt tablets we got.
But we had to sneak into the football locker room to get lemonade.

Ahh yes…the good ole days in high school. Two-a-days and reminders of “are you taking your salt tablets?” However, I also remember one day the coaches brought up some kind of new powdered stuff. Just had to add water. Something with a weird name…I think they called it Gatorade. ;)

In eighth grade peewee football I tried to intentionally sprain my ankle walking home from morning practice so I could sit out in the afternoon. I was falling down hills, stepping in cracks, sliding off the side of the curb, anything to create some visible swelling and discoloration.

Brought to you by the fine folks who made Iron City and the inimitable 16 ounce Robin Hood Ale from the One Stop Carry Out. $3 a case and returnable bottles. Made Valley Acres Trailer Park an oasis back in the day.

The Post article on TJ Jackson is interesting. Two things really stood out.

*He picked Ohio because he hit it off with OL coach Rudolph. Jackson really appreciates that Rudolph is working with him on fundamentals, something he apparently didn't get a lot -- or at least enough -- of at VATech. Makes me wonder if the "P" schools expect their recruits to know the fundamentals so they don't work on it so much.

*He's very impressed with Tuggle -- thinks that Tuggle will make HIM look good. Usually, it's the linemen that make the runners look good. Jackson seems to have a fair amount of humility.

He also really likes Athens because the people are so friendly. I can understand that. About 40 years ago I worked not far from Blacksburg. Back then it was really a closed society; I knew someone who'd been there more than ten years and was still considered an outsider. That area's been pretty slow to change, so it might still be the same way.

This guy at The Post has been giving regular reports from camp. He's been doing a pretty good job.
