I'm not sure how many people have started looking ahead to the opener vs CMU, but there's an interesting situation ongoing with their would-be starting QB David Moore up there. For those who are unaware, Moore was suspended for one year by the NCAA last season for testing positive for a banded substance. His suspension was to last one full year - until October 7, 2020. But here's the kicker, the NCAA has still not cleared Moore with reinstated eligibility.

As you would expect, CMU's coaches are not very pleased as the season opener is less that two weeks away, and the October 7 reinstatement date is already over two weeks in the rear view mirror. Folks at CMU seem to feel the NCAA is now going to try and extend the suspension since the date has come and gone weeks ago and he still hasn't been cleared. And frankly, I can understand their anger regarding the situation. My guess is since the date of October 7, 2020 didn't cover any games for the 2020 season, the NCAA is trying to figure of what to do. Which to me, is BS. If he served the one year suspension, it's over, move forward. If they're worried that it didn't cover any games played in 2020, then the suspension should have been a total number of games he had to miss, not a total number of days suspended (one full year).

IMO, this is exactly the kind of thing the NCAA does that angers a lot of people, and my guess is if Moore was playing for Michigan and not Central Michigan, this case would have been handled appropriately and he would have been reinstated two weeks ago, and not being held in limbo at CMU like this. If he's not reinstated based on the type of suspension he received (a one year suspension), then I'm sorry, that would be BS. especially considering the 2020 season is essentially a free red-shirt season for every single player this year. Ohio would benefit by not facing CMU with him, but that would be a shame in the grand scheme of things if it happens. He needs to be cleared, he has served the suspension he was dealt.

Well, it’s now been over 3 weeks since the suspension date has passed and the NCAA still hasn’t notified CMU on Moore’s status. CMU is playing Wednesday and they still don’t know if he can play. How hard can it be to review this case? The NCAA suspended him for one full year. That date has come and gone three weeks ago and yet still nothing. If this was OSU and not CMU, this would have been handled immediately and would have been front and center in the college football news. What a joke.

NCAA is furloughing people left and right, not sure they have time to focus on doing their actual job when keeping their job at this point is priorities 1-100

At the same time, this guy is (allegedly) a drugs cheat (I’m making the assumption that he was busted for PED use, rather than recreational). If that’s the case, I’m not shedding any tears that his suspension has been extended on the fly

One thing that may come into play - A suspension through October 7th would not cover any lost games for the current season. I have no idea of that matters or not ...

True, but the suspension wasn't based on any GAMES, it was for one full YEAR. When his suspension was issued, it lasted until October 7, 2020. That's when he was to become eligible. It's now nearly November 2020 and he still hasn't been cleared. That unacceptable. Replace David Moore's name with Justin Fields and this matter would have been settled back on October 7, 2020. That's what irks me the most out of this.

Even if he isn't, I think CMU is in decent shape with R-FR Daniel Richardson (https://youtu.be/MOpSm54GcIg ) and FCS transfer Ty Brock (https://youtu.be/3Jc_bfBihZ4 ).

Brock really intrigues me as he seems to make good decisions with the ball, can slide in the pocket and just mobile enough to make you game plan for it.

They both get the ball out quick which tells me that OHIO DBs shouldn't be 5-7 yards off the LOS. No more than 2 yards from the CMU WRs the whole game and read the QBs 3 or 5 step drop and react (like Dion did) while also keeping the WR in front of you in your back pedal. This will create some tips and overthrown passes.

CMU said Richardson will get the start if Moore isn't cleared, which he still hasn't and the game is now only 3 days away.
