As the season comes to a close within the next month or so, I was starting to think about the roster outlook for next season. Does anyone have a strong idea of the big names we are losing? I know COVID-19 and all these eligibility rules have made it nearly impossible to keep track of.

I think Rourke has one more year. Guys like Wiglusz, Thompson, and Houston have exhausted their eligibility.

We are losing a lot across the board. Both LBs, WRs, QBs, OL, and sprinkle some transfers in there. My gut feeling is that Bangura and/or Miles Cross will transfer after this season.

Gonna be a very different team next year.

I thought Bangura would transfer after last season. Not sure if he would be able to find a better situation after a regressing so much this year.

My hunch has been that Rourke would leave after this year. His slower recovery from injury may prevent that.

I think the team got a little lucky last year keeping key players. I don't expect that to continue. However, they have done a good job of managing the portal situation so far.

While there may have been some luck involved, I think there were other factors intrinsic to the team and the culture that Solich and Albin have built here that may have been even more salient.

He had a bum shoulder that required surgery. Not very portal-able.

We haven’t lose many players to the portal and haven’t really gotten many there as a result. We’ve had some home runs like Sammy and a few strike outs but overall it’s been okay in my estimation. If we end up losing more players, it could get interesting to see how we do.

Players in football are recruited to fit a system so that limits transfers more so than in basketball where its about the individual talent. The players had to work hard to defend the first string and that becomes questionable elsewhere.

I could have missed him, but I don't believe Jacobi Jones was part of senior day recognition before today's game. Can anyone confirm or correct? For whatever that means in the era of the portal/NIL.

You could be losing me for next year. Class of 1972 and still waiting. Probably cleaning out my locker and moving on. Same fate as the Indians and the Browns. Using my one time voucher to switch teams. Not sure who it will be.

Looks like we could use a transfer portal QB.

And a middle linebacker or two.

When Keye Thompson went out in the 3rd quarter v. Miami, he was replaced by a former walkon. Thompson and Houston have played the majority of snaps this year. I'm afraid there's going to be a significant drop off with them leaving the program after this year.

Welcome to today's world of major and mid-major college football.

Life of a mid-major is lose a few high flyers to Power 5 and pick up a few not as good as they thought they were's to your Ohio Bobcats.

I'm a Miami guy, if not for transfers I don't know who we'd have had as wide outs this season because the shelves were bare.

It's the world we live in. Deal with it or else.

The real pain is gonna be replacing 8 starters on defense. With a new DC.

-Spense: Theres only way we're keeping him this off-season.

-Houston + Thompson + Birchette: ... I shed a tear...

-Vonnie has been with the program since 2018.

-We have a whole cornucopia of 5th years:
Walter Reynolds. Rayyan Buehl. Hunter. Rodney Matthews.

Shane Bonner is listed as a grad student (4th year)

More than likely, 8 new starters. Yikes. Will have a strong group of DB's coming back - but if there are changes... who knows?

On offense, impossible to replace a Kurtis Rourke. Build a statue for Wigs. Bangura will be starting at Maryland while we argue about why he's lost a step. Allison has seen it all, played through it all.

2024 is gonna be PAIN.

The portal is where it does or doesn't happen today. The coaches have done pretty well with the JUCO's.

Linebacker is my biggest concern for next year.

I feel a little better about DT after the performance of Gorman and Henderson last night….each with about 7 tackles.

We will have a bunch of good young linebackers but an older portal guy might help.

Kurtis is gone. Perhaps explains the sudden "medical emergency" suffered by CJ Harris.

What drivel . . . you think they "fake it" to give CJ a medical redshirt?

Fake it no... exaggerate it - absolutely. happens all the time. Had a mod-mate on the team with a "back" issue when I was at Ohio.

Looking at the starting lineups from this recent game we have 15 seniors/Graduates. If this number holds true, we will need to get into the transfer portal and reload, otherwise we could be in real trouble

GO BOBCATS

Why not enjoy the success and the few games the Bobcats have left? Realistic opportunity to win nine regular season games. I realize that schools in this era play a few more games in ALL sports, but when is the last time Ohio won 10 and 9 games in back to back football seasons? Probably never! So, before we start worrying about who will and who won't return next summer, please enjoy the remaining games. In today's transfer portal and with the pandemic giving players an extra season, nobody actually knows who will be back in Athens next summer.

Nah. . . as a Reds fans dating back to the Big Red Machine days of the 1970s, I looked ahead to what the lineup might be a year or two out. As a fan of Bobcat football and basketball dating back over 40 years, I've always looked at the Ohio roster makeup of underclassmen and forecasted what to expect the following year (or two). It's what fans do, even if the landscape these days with the portal makes this less accurate. Unless you're Nostradamus.
