Reports are the OSU SR. Lineman from Lancaster is transferring (graduate) with Ohio and Cincinnati as possible destinations.

actually, I would pass on trout, unless he comes during the winter. He will not play if he does not come in the winter. Stroebel and Heitzman came in the winter and contributed. He would come in the summer and end up riding the pine and eating up a schollie. We should be selective on 5th year transfers as Excat 21 stated. He has no on the field playing experience, I'd rather get a high school senior. If he doesn't come in the winter, let him go to UC. http://247sports.com/Bolt/Trout-to-transfer-Maybe-but-not...

So much we don't know about the roster players. Anderson next up for Cooper, with McCray next up for Watson. Pleasants behind Lowery, Notestine behind Pruehs. Who else has seen the field? If the coaches who have seen Ohio's other roster players decide to offer him it would be from a much more informed position than any one at BA. He was a huge get out of HS and has had four years of the highest level player development, if the coaches meet with him and he has a real fire to play, like Heitzman and Strobel, they will see it. I do expect that if the coaches offer him it will be after having been "selective."

He has not played in two years at OSU. He would not be attending winter workouts, our system is different. We have to be selective. He may not have the drive to beat out the five kids that redshirted last year and the three recruits we have coming in. He would just be a dead schollie. If he wants to be hungry and come now and learn our system, he is worth the risk like, otherwise we should pass on him. We don't need fill-ins, we need competitive recruits ready to don the Ohio uniform. Let him concentrate on his studies on UC's dime.

We are in agreement except I would leave it to the coaches if he can come in the fall and play.

First, the article says Trout will graduate this Spring. He can not transfer until after he graduates, so the soonest he could arrive would be summer. Second, he was a third year Sophomore this year. Wherever he lands, he will be a Junior, and have two years to play two.

OU originally recruited Trout. I watched film on him when he was coming out. He fits what we do here however I dont see him coming here with an opportunity to 1.) earn a starting position at OSU next year or 2.) Follow Fickle to Cincinnati. I would take him though unlike most transfers. Mostly because he has Big Ten experience, OSU offseason training, etc. Now if he was a JUCO with 2 years left, he would need to be All-Conference in a high profile JUCO conference aka Blinn, Coffeyville, Mississippi Pearl, etc. If not I would pass. But yes I would take Trout in a heartbeat.

Ok I hear you, but you said you are against taking Shane Morris, who has actually earned playing time at Michigan. I will trust you and the coaches on this one. If you could not crack the second string here, it is highly unlikely that you will play here so I don't know if I would pay two years of grad school unless we had a mass exodus, like we did at cornerback last year.

Shane Morris did earn time but he just doesnt fit our scheme. He is more of a Pro-Style QB. He would fit better with Miami or Akrons offense to be honest. But I would develop a QB like Maxwell before taking Morris. Trout on the other hand, you just never can have too many big boys. All about bringing big boys in, that might be the Solich in me. LOL!
