For Ohio, no one since losing Kirk Barron to Purdue last summer. Some other schools have lost some. NIU lost Bearooz Yacoobi to Purdue on 1/17 and Juwan Dowells to Syracuse, also 1/17. I'm still thinking WMU may lose some, but who knows?

Not sure on the Decommits, but Miami Ohio is bringing in some strong recruits.

L.C.,

If we were to lose any, what's your opinion on who you may rather lose to?

-On one hand, if we lose a recruit to a BCS school, that's not too bad because it may have been a great get for us anyways, i.e., we were recruiting above our current level. Recruiting better talent and getting them to commit is better than maintaining status quo.

-On the other hand, we lose a recruit to a fellow MAC school. Maybe this recruit wasn't BCS-caliber and we were recruiting lower that our current level.

Obviously we'd want the best of both worlds, not lose any to fellow MAC schools while also stealing some from BCS schools. But which problem would you rather have?

Me thinks we had a Fla. WR decommitt....name escapes me.....the title of this thread disturbs me.

Gocats, I agree with your analysis. I sort of start by assuming that anyone that Ohio is after can play. Therefore I expect some will be lost to AQ schools, and while I always hope it doesn't happen, I don't mind that too much as I know it will occasionally happen, like Walsh last year. It usually irks me to lose someone to another MAC school. I think that historically most people that decommit from Ohio are moving to AQ schools, or moving to a place closer to home, though I remember one that was looking for a place closer to malls. (given his reason, I didn't mind losing him - he turned out not to be that great, not surprisingly). Ohio did lose an MLB to Toledo, once, that turned out to be an all-MAC player, and I hated that.

I do note that for many of the very best recruits, Ohio has somehow managed to keep them top secret until signing day, I presume precisely so they don't get poached. Some in that group would be Robert Hightower (two times failed to qualify unfortunately), Lavon Brazill, Vince Carlotta, Travis Carrie, Carl Jones, Ryan Boykin, Gary Fortune (who left due to grade issues). Last year's late surprises were Tyrell Basham, Cleon Aloese, Dyquan Stewart, Tyree Graves (who didn't qualify) and Jarrid Brown, and I think there are quite a few good players there.

It's precisely because there are generally lots of good surprises, and not too many bad ones, that signing day is always fun.

OK, haha - I changed it for you. Yes, Ohio lost two this year, Barron (to Purdue) and Ingram (to Temple).

Fiami will need good recruits. No other direction to go but up for them.

I refuse to participate in this naysaying of the Ohio Football.

Now that I had my morning laugh, I will predict that we lose at least 2 commits. Position coaches matter to recruits and losing guys this close to signing day is not good.

My guess is McCray and maybe Pruehs. Lightner was pretty heavily involved in crootin' the OL (as an OL coach should be) and it just seemed like those OL commits were particularly attracted to the Lightner/Solich relationship.

I don't think Duckworth is going anywhere. He was way too excited for Frank's visit the other day to jump ship.

Ingram was a decommit.

Yes, sorry I missed him in the first post, but I did add him later in the thread. Hopefully there won't be any more from Ohio. I'm still curious if there will be any from WMU. Fleck must be quite the salesman, and the poor record should make the recruits think they will have the opportunity to play right away, so they may all sign.

I have a feeling your guess is 50% wrong and hopefully 100%!

As much as we hated to hear the departure of coaches we are looking forward to the future!

Thanks Preez for the committment!!!  In this day and age you never know.  I can tell by this just how solid an individual young Pruehs really is - honoring a verbal committment.  I, for one, am excited about young Mr. Pruehs playing in green and white!!

Just checked that one out and found out that we had a very poor finish in November the last two years.  This was an amazing revelation to me.  I guess I need to spend more time in the recruiting form.  I thought all you guys did over here was argue about how many stars our recruits had, how we stacked up against other MAC schools, and if we out starred Miami.  Then I saw dimly as if through a veil, now I see clearly.  It's just pure amazement on top of incredible amazement.  I'm kind of like the little boy coming home down Mulberry Street.

All offensive line recruits and the QB are now signed, so the coaching loss cost no recruits.

We are now up to 20 players either signed or enrolled. Still left:
Maleek Irons
Papi White
Connor Brown
Pierce Royster
Tyler Jones

+1. That news broke just as the basketball team started into its funk v. BG and CMU, and throw in general January blah-ness and I was in Bobcat Eye-ore mode on that one.
