Ohio has received a verbal from Hudson HS Kicker Pierce Royster according to Scout.com. The 5-9, 170-pounder is rated 3 stars by Scout and also shows an offer from Miss. State.

Well, you miss one 45 yarder and .... Seriously, it seems competition is a good thing. This young man can redshirt, understudy as a RS Fr then compete with Amicone.

Note to Casper71. It seems they don't just have tryouts for walkon kickers. This is good recruiting to keep a strong roster.

I wasn't expecting a kicker in this year's class, but if a good one is available, why not? I suppose it's also possible that he's being recruited as a grayshirt, which would mean he wouldn't enroll until a year from now. That way his redshirt year would be Yaz's Senior year.

Here's a little more about him. He runs a 4.6 40, and has played QB, WR, and DB. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe we'll see a little trickery in the future.

If not a grayshirt, maybe he was recruited as a punter? I don't know why they would burn a scholarship on a kicker when Yaz has earned the starting spot (if not a scholarship) next season.

He probably got offered a few months ago when it seemed Ohio had no good kicking option. Besides, this guy can redshirt and then be a redshirt freshman when Yaz is a senior, giving him three years to kick.

Yes he can punt.....rated in the top 20 of kickers in the US.....kicked some 50 plus field goals at a recent kicking event....but why worry......all the experts on this board think we overrate talent and that's why we suck.....let's just return to the Knorr recruiting years....that way we all can agree that recruiting and the team sucks and will forevermore....amen
