Doc--When you put up your lists, are they much informed by who you know the staff is looking at?  Obviously, our list is not going to be composed of the consensus All-America players.  So, how do you pare your list to guys who we actually have a shot at and are going after?

My "list" comes  primarily from Ted's data base.  Most of the guys I pick are "offered" by Ohio so it's a given that the coaches are looking at them.

The easiest way for me to pick would be just to select those players that have the  most BCS offers.....of course like you said we won't get all of those guys anyway so I pick players that first of all I like. I like means that I've looked at their videos and something sticks out.... the it factors of speed or big play ability....etc etc.  Of course all highlight films are just that....some are just better than others.

The bottom line is that I do this for fun and a hobby....I'm not a professional Bill Kurelic type who does it for money.  I do narrow the list to those that I feel we have a legit shot at getting.....clues from scout and rivals like "he's narrowed his list to Ohio and ?"  or "Ohio seems to be the front runner" or maybe the recruit just visited Ohio and even sometimes a "birdie" will tell me so and so is leaning towards Ohio.

What's great is that I've had guys on my list from day one like Daz Patterson that we end up getting....of course changes need to be made when recruits go elsewhere but recently we haven't lost a bunch and it's getting easier to recruit kids to come to Ohio....more TV coverage and of course SUCCESS helps for sure.

Thanks, Doc. I, for one, marvel at the work you do, viewing all these films, and trying to make judgments on all these guys.. Keep up the good work.

Doc, I watched DeLuca play in a few games but I also watched him on film when Creighton Prep played them and I am as impressed with him as I was with Noah Keller.  DeLuca is just closes on guys that actually have very good speed.  He has very good football speed and is very quick.  I am pretty old school and love tough, hard nose players like Keller was and DeLuca would be a big pick up for Ohio.  You are absolutly correct that he is a true MLB.  I know Iowa is looking at him hard as well as some Big 12 schools, but I would love to see him end up with my boy Lechner and Ohio.

Slow boring summer so I've watched a bunch of video and made some changes....we seem to be going after so many good athletes that I may need to do a first team second team thing......my list will get easier though once we get a few committs.

Does Ohio have a chance with this kid. Any new info.

Nice film on Wilcoxen. He doesn't have a lot of offers, but he does look good in run support. As I watched him, I was thinking that with 20-30 more pounds, he'd be an awesome SLB. Of course, I admit, I love converted safeties at that position.

I don't know how close we are on any L.A. city guys (Inglewood is city which is surrounded by L.A.).  But it is amazing to me that OUr efforts reach and are respected here.  GOTFRANK.
