I just realized that what 247Sports is doing is kind of interesting. They have linked their ratings to the publicly available ratings of the same players by Scout, ESPN, and Rivals to form a "Composite Rating". On each player there is a bar with four spots, and you can see how many of the Services have rated that player. For example, on James Walsh, all four of the red bars are lit, since all four ratings have been done on him. Here is Dorian Brown, who shows two ratings, which I know to be 247Sports and Scout.com.
Therefore, if you want to use a single rating that includes all the ratings services, here are their composite rankings for the MAC. They show Ohio in 7th, middle of the MAC, but only have 10 of the recruits. Of course, the other schools probably have incomplete data as well, so the rankings won't mean much until next month after the LOI's are signed.
I compared the average rating by conference (moving Boise and San Diego State back to the MWC), and I get this:
SEC - 87.88
BiG 10/12 - 85.55
PAC 12 - 85.43
Big 12 - 85.08
ACC - 84.68
Big East - 81.87
CUSA - 79.37
MWC (inc Boise/San Diego) - 78.47
MAC - 78.42
Sunbelt - 78.19
This way things are sorting seems to be that the SEC for now is the top conference, then the other AQ conferences are all about equal. Below them the non-AQ conferences are also about equal, with the Big East, for now, existing in no-mans land between the clusters. In years past the MAC and Sunbelt were a step below the other non-AQ conferences. That is no longer true - they are all pretty close, so the MAC has definitely improved.
FWIW, in terms of average rating, Ohio comes in currently at #101. We'll see how it shakes out when it's all done.
I find it interesting that I see no sign of re-rating activity from the services. Normally in December you see them re-rating players based on Senior films, and catching up on lists of commits by "poaching" from other sources, but I see no signs of any activity from them. Obviously this site has a complete (or nearly complete) list of recruits, as it does every year, yet none of the services have picked up the commit list from here yet. Of the services, ESPN has the most players, yet none of the services have picked up players from there.
