According to Rivals, with the commitments from Trae Clark and Mike Roberts, the Bobcats are bringing home SEVEN 3 star recruits on Wednesday (Wade Wells, Tim Edmond, Nick Gibbons, Chris Murray, Jake Schany, Trae Clark, Mike Roberts).  With Willie Henry, Roger Lewis and Diamante Wiggins as 3 stars that I believe we have a great shot at, may be others I missed, this could be a ridiculous class for the Bobs!

By the way, I LOVE Mike Roberts with his size and athleticism.  I think he will be a special player!

They only list 5 now and they and scout both have us next to the bottom as far as rankings go in the MAC....then again they only have us with 10 commits....and we may get a 4 star with roger Lewis.

I look at rankings (obviously) but can't say they mean much........especially when they're inaccurate.

They only have us with 5, but they don't have Mike Roberts or Trae as committed and have them both rated as 3 Stars.  Agree with you that rankings don't mean much.  We are consistently ranked low in the MAC and yet continue to produce.  Just makes you feel good though.

I would look more at the offers (quality of and total numbers) in making a determination of how much to value a recruit because that is the best recruiting science you are ever going to get. Guys with only 1 FBS offer and that offer being Ohio would normally grade out as 1 star. Patterson would fall under this category though the Orlando Sentinel rates his #82 in the state. He's under the radar because of his size. Reid falls under the one star category from an offer prospective though he's a 6-3 and 195 pound WR. If the guy doesn't have the speed at WR he could be a standout at that size after a few years in the weight room at safety. Toran Davis has one offer from Ohio but great academics scoring a 5 on his AP World History Exam. Are these guys bad or are they just sleepers? Lavon Brazil if I can recall only had one FBS offer and Thad Turner signed an NFL free agent contract with Ohio as his only offer out of college. Back in the Knorr days the under the radar guys were usually in-state with no other MAC offers. Solich is getting sleepers from FL-GA where the surplus of talent is greater than what the colleges can keep up with. That is a big difference in my opinion and I've seen sleepers like we are getting now star at Big East schools within a quality offensive system.

Don't get me wrong...I am thrilled as can be at the way this class is shaping up....but I would really prefer to wait until we get the LOIs before we start calling this the best Ohio recruiting class ever. Lord knows who is in these kids' ears, telling them what in these final couple of days.

Wiggins and Lewis would give the Cats 8 guys with a BCS offer up from 7 last season. I would consider any player with a BCS offer 3 stars plus if you're throwing in Wells and Edmonds from the JUCO ranks with 3 star accolades that would give the Cats 10 3 star guys (and not 3 stars in the Toledo sense where most of them will be flunking out). This recruiting class is going to be a load for the MAC to compete with on top of the depth and quality already in the program. Ohio would win the East in 2012 without even taking in one recruit. I would go as far to say that Lewis (Ohio State offer) and Clark (Arkansas offer) are 4 star guys with an offer from a top 15 recruiting class program. Top to bottom the Cats have got to have the best recruiting class in the MAC.

No matter what anyone on here thinks, the rankings lead to a perception.  Just take a look at CUSA.  While just a rung or two above the MAC, I think most all of them have at least ten (10) three star recruits.  That is why CUSA is perceived as being a better conference.  I do think, as a whole, the MAC is doing better but we need to consistently win a lot more recruiting wars and get a lot more three star guys to be moved to "the next level"!

I would disagree. I would say that the perception of which conference is better is based on on-the-field victories, and that perception in turn translates into recruiting results, but really, it's a chicken-and-egg question. In comparing recruiting, though, there seems to be less separation between MAC recruiting classes and CUSA classes than in years past, so the MAC seems to be gaining ground. I would attribute that to frequent MAC TV appearances on weeknight games, plus the tremendous bowl record by the MAC this year. Let's hope the MAC can sustain that progress in the years ahead.

L.C.  I think we have some agreement based on both of our last sentences.  BUT, check out Scout and Rivals and count the three star guys CUSA is signing compared to the MAC.  Then, check out the Sagrins for the last ten years.  Then, look at how Marshall has performed in CUSA vs. their record in the MAC.  Bottom line, CUSA is perceived as a better conference (based on these objective criteria).  Granted, the MAC may be closing the gap but it's gonna take some time and consistent recruiting by all schools to get just to that level.
