We need two Juco safeties and two high school safeties. This position needs to be addressed.

Are you forgetting Xavier Hughes??

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

What's the word on the progress of Aaron Macer?  I understood that he was/is a pretty good get.

Two freshmen and a junior at that position is tough.  Getting Hughes healthy plus a year of experience for the other guys, safety will be in solid shape next season.  Though, I agree we need some S recruits and there's an opportunity for a recruit to come in and contribute.

Yeah....some safeties excel in stopping the run and others in the passing game.....it's obvious we need to work on the passing side.

Hughes was our best cover safety and we lost him for the year.....Moore needs to improve on his cover skills.....Kristoff is more like an extra linebacker......Ingol played lots of wide receiver in high school so he should be a decent cover safety as well as Macer who played QB.  Carpenter may be our best safety but his inexperience and height hurt him a tad this year.  Maybe he can grow over the summer....haha.

No need to panic......experienta docet.

Some of Harnish's throws were up in the air so long I thought his receivers were going to fair catch them. And no safeties in sight. They must get an adequate backup for Hughes next year. He is playing safety in a cornerback's body and could get hurt again.

Yeah, I completely agree with this. Kristoff is (I'm sorry to say) too slow.

When Hughes went down, the pass defense went down with him. Carpenter is great, but also too short and a little slow. Not to mention Leftwich, who is also consistently getting beat.

You ever think that the corners are getting beat because they know that the 'help" behind them is null and void?? I spoke with Leftwich and the kid has played all season with a torn labrun that requires surgery after the bowl game..I dare you throw one of the better kids that we have under the bus. If you get Leftwich and Carrie some safety help and a semblance of a pass rush Ohio will have 2 of the better corners in the MAC hands down.

I wouldn't expect anyone thats never played football to think beyond oh my he gave up a pass..no corner even Revis goes with out giving up something and on the TD's that Ohio corners have given up the safety either bit on the run or was too slow to get down the field..terrible to ask your corner to run with a man for 40- 50 yards on a post pattern.

Just checked his bio. 3 sports in hs, fb, track and basketball.  Part of the bigger, stronger and faster movement.

He may rotate in next year I dont see them going away from Gerald Moore and Xavier Hughes..maybe see if they can save Hughes body a bit for passing downs. Love the way he puts everything into each hit but one of the better guys at playing the ball when it is in the air.

The comments here remind me that I was not terribly impressed with Harnish.  He's not bad but he wasn't special against us.  And I wonder how he'd done if we'd've blitzed him more.

This might sound harsh but there should be an open competion at safety Moore has been below par as well. We need two fast cover guys maybe we can move Jamil Shaw over.

Lets not forget Toran Davis, who will probably play safety.

Agreed, Moore did not have a great year.

Travis Carrie would be a NFL Draft pick at safety I am convinced.
