Ohio has offered a scholarship to Lincoln (NE) Southeast High School defensive end David Sutton. The 6-4, 245-pounder (4.6 forty) also has an offer from S. Dakota St. and interest from Nebraska. He'll visit Ohio the weekend of 1/7.

From the video I posted in another thread it looks like he can play some TE as well.....4.6 isn't that bad for a 250 pounder.

According to HuskersIllustrated.com, his visit at Nebraska went well. Not it's just a waiting game. If he gets a Nebraska offer, it/s Nebraska. If not, it's Ohio. Sutton said Pellini would call him 2-3 times per week to keep him updated as to what happens (waiting to hear from other recruits). There is also the possibility of a grayshirt although Pellini said he didn't want to go down that path just yet. Nebraska is looking at him as a TE.

Anyone else feel that we're oversaturating one position?

While it may not always be obvious to us, I suspect the coaches have a plan. DE is a position that is woefully shorthanded at the moment, so I think a minimum of 3 DE's was needed. Some of the DE's may be slated for other positions, such as sliding inside to DT or moving to the offensive side for TE or even FB. Come signing day we'll have a better idea where the coaches play to use the various players, at least, initially.

No, for three reasons.

1.Graduation will cost Ohio the DLine.

2. The coaches might feel that more opponents will go with a Troy style hurry up and so extra big men will be a premium.

3. Big, strong fast guys can be switched to DT or over to the other side of the ball.

My impression of the National Championship game showed, much like Monroe said in another thread, that the lines control it all.  In that game, neither QB impressed me and I think that was caused by the Dlines both being so disruptive.  So if we have a shut down front and OL that keep guys away from any QB back there than it is worth stockpiling talent.  We need a major upgrade at those positions.
