ESPN Recruiting Rankings

What I'm doing here is listing each MAC school in order top to bottom by the number of 3 star (rated above 72) and 2 star (rated above 60) to see how OHIO stacks up. At first glance it would look like OHIO has an average MAC football recruiting class but when considering the bobcats beat out Toledo head-to-head 8 times on the recruiting trail you would have to think Ohio had one of the very best recruiting classes. It also looks like the new guy at Temple isn't quite the recruiter/salesman that Al Golden was. With the OHIO program developed to the point that it is under solich and with the level of recruits coming at this point it looks like we'll continue to be the top program in the East.

Bowling Green (9 players at 3 star, 3 players at 2 star)
Ball State (8 players at 3 star, 6 players at 2 star)
Toledo (7 players at 3 star, 2 players at 2 star)
Akron (5 players at 3 star, 6 at 2 star)
OHIO (5 players at 3 star, 4 at 2 star)
Temple (5 players at 3 star, 4 at 2 star)
Buffalo (5 players at 3 star, 1 player at 2 star)
Central Michigan (4 players at 3 star, 10 players at 2 star)
Miami (4 players at 3 star, 7 players at 2 star)
Kent State (3 players at 3 star, 2 players at 2 star)

MAC recruiting battles won and lost by OHIO. OHIO won 10 recuruiting battles against the MAC while losing 10 MAC battles which is an impressive rate against 12 other MAC schools. If you break it down by MAC offers, OHIO beat out 33 MAC offers for its commits or 3.3 offers to every MAC offer lost.

Anybod know who the real king of "football recruiting" is? Among Scout, Rival and ESPN there appears to be quite a bit of difference in ratings of players. I used to think 5 three star recruits a year would get us moving up the charts. Given the ESPN ratings, it looks like we need 10.

The stars aren't coming up on my laptop computer, but 75 or more rating is 3 star for ESPN per their ratings scale on their page and BG doesn't have 9 of those., etc.

Yea when I go to ESPN I only see 3 3-star guys for Ohio....here is the breakdown that I see:

Let us be clear. Texas shows that superior athletes win and some coaches really need them. Ohio shows that some coaching staffs will take their players as far as they can. Given better players they will go farther. Some coaches will install a revolving door to sort players in and out. I don't believe Ohio has one, good for Solich, it will make the job touhger, make the process slower when compared to schools that do. Progress is all I need, small steps each year, leaps are not sustainable, small steps.
